New Disney Credit Card Reward

Does anyone else access their credit card account online? I was wondering if anyone else had some funky things happening? Like my credit limit is now a negative number....I don't understand. I pay off my card as soon as I get the bill.

It also looked like they were updating the website- I am hoping it is just that. I wanted to order my wedding dress and put it on the card (this Saturday).

Bank One is driving me crazy with the points system and now they merged. Ughhhhh.....

Oh found out today....It was a computer glitch.

I asked Visa about the double points and here is the response that I got:

We understand that you are requesting information on the Spend & Get promotion. You will
receive double reward dollars for spending over $101 each month from July 1, 2004 through
June 30, 2005 for dining, groceries, gas, utilities, dry cleaning, wireless services,
drug stores, home improvement, movies/refreshments and video rentals. The double rewards
will be reflected on your monthly credit card statement approximately 8 to 10 weeks
following June 30, 2005.

I think how it works is that based on a calendar month, so starting with 7/1, they tally your charges in the categories they will allow double points. So let's say you have made 3 transactions involving gas, groceries, etc. and it is 7/10. Those purchases equal $170. You should get $1.00 in Disney Dollars, plus $.50 PLUS $.40 for the $20 that you are over the $150. Of course you won't get the Disney Dollars in change until you get over that dollar mark. Any purchases beyond that will count as double Disney dollars until the end of the month (7/31). So, let's say you have another $270 in purchases in gas, etc. for the remainder of the month. You should get $5.00 for the $270 purchases with $.40 that can be combined with your previous $.90, leaving you another $1, but the remaining $.30 I think either gets lost, or dropped to $.15 and carried to August because the month ends, unless it can be combined with other Disney Dollars that are NOT in the gas, groceries, etc. categories, and in that case, it should remain at $.30. That's how I THINK it works. Does that make sense?

Disney takes your credit card,
Michael Eisner's dreams come true,
Thanks to VISA, me and you."

I called to complain about my $1,000 limit. The CS rep couldn't understand why I was upset. "Surely you'll spend more than $1,000 on groceries in the next year." I explained that that was a monthly threshold and she just didn't know what to say. She said she'd have marketing get back to me. I'm still waiting but based on what I've read here I'm sure I'll get the "sorry" response. I usually spend 2-3,000 per month and pay off the balance but I will NEVER hit the threshold on grocery/drug/gas/home improvement. They don't count BJ's as groceriers so I don't see how I'll get close to the limit.

I think I'll have to get a new rewards card. I've got a Sony card but that's BankOne too. I was thinking of getting a Delta Sky Miles card but the latest offer I got was 1 mile for every $2 spent. Anyone know anything about Citi Bank's new Thank You program? I just tried their site but its down.

US Airs VISA card is $1 for 1 mile - then all you have to worry about it what happens if they go under. We have also found that you have to book your flight way!!! in advance to use the frequent flyer miles to someplace like Orlando.

My statement had no such offer. I even went on-line and looked for the offer - nothing. I'd love to know how they decide who gets what.
I WANT THIS OFFER!!! Maybe I should call or email them and ask pretty please with a cherry on top if I can have double points.

As far as weird things happening at the Disney Visa site- YES. For a few weeks when I would log in I could view my account balance... but no Disney offers came up. When I called BankOne tech support they logged into my account and asked what the problem was- I said I can't manage my rewards- all my Disney special offers are gone... They said you have to have the DISNEY Visa for that stuff. He told me that what I have is a standard Bank One Visa. It is a Disney Visa. It took me 5 minutes to convince the guy I have a Disney Visa. Finally he believed me and it was working again a few days later.

My mailer stated I'd start earning 2% after charging $2,300 in a calendar month!

We use our Disney Visa for anything we can and then pay off the balance each month. I knew I used the card alot but, holy moly, $2,300!?!

Debbie

That's exactly what mind said too!!!! Gee, thanks for the generous offer Disney.

Mine also said 2,300. I use my Disney Visa for everything, and don't believe I will hit that threshold.

Has anyone noticed that travel is not listed as a doubler??

How about Disney not listed? Wouldn't you think they'd want to encourage Disney purchases?????

So does this mean you have to call and verify every charge? I don't think it's fair that some charges apply and others do not....none of the other rewards cards we have (toysrus and usair) do that! TRU even give extra for $ charged at TRU. Seems Disney would follow suit and not exempt travel at least!

Oddly...this is the first double rewards offer I have received since being a day one member. I charge a very large amount to the card...I have already maxed out on my $750 yearly limit..this is the only reason I can figure that I got the offer. My threshold is set at $150 per month and a maximum of $100 bonus rewards can be earned per month. I will get the $100 per month though, since I easily charge over $10,150 per month and it shows up as "service stations" I believe. BTW, I actually pay my balances off every week as soon as they are acumulated.

It would certainly be nice if there were some logical explanation of the way they determine who gets what bonuses and thresholds. Of course I am sure they would be shocked or maybe just amused at how much information gets exchanged on these boards about such things!

Just checked the website. No double rewards for me!!! I also have been a member since day 1 and have NEVER received a double rewards offer and my bill each month is AT LEAST $900!!!

Lorie, I would double check with the Bank One folks. I didn't get a letter saying that I could earn double points, and it doesn't say anything on the website. So I emailed their customer service and got a reply that I can earn double points and they gave the information to me.

Good luck....I hope all work out for you! :sunny:

for those of you have received double points - does this show up on your statement separately or is it just added to the rest of the points for 1 total? According to a bank rep I talked to it takes a while for the bonus points to show up & I would like to track them to make sure they are really added.

The way it was explained to me was that I will see my July bonus points in my August statement and they will be listed as a separate line item (possibly even detailed out, but not sure on that).

We don't get the double points until 8-10 weeks after June 30, 2005!!!!

I thought that we got the bonus points 8-10 weeks after the month in which they were charged. For example I would get the bonus points from July purchases in September, the ones for August purchases in October, etc.

Maggie

That's not what I was told on the phone...again, the bank rep said I would see my bonus points in the next month's statement...hopefully that is the correct answer!!! I would like to use my points sooner than later!!!

:)
This is what the dream rewards area of my statement looks like. This is my statement for June spending.

Disney Dream Reward Dollars

Balance from last statement 117
Reward Dollars earned from net purch. 13 (current cycle)
Bonus reward dollars posted 6 (Mays cycle)
Available balance 136

My deal(which has now expired) was for purchases over $350. In May I purchased 975.00 and on my May statement there were 10 reward dollars earned from net purch. The bonus rewards posted the next statement at 6 (975-350=625).On this June statement there are 13 reward dollars posted based on purchases of 1296.00. On my next statement I expect to see 9 bonus rewards posted (1296-350=946).

Maybe seeing a real life example will solve some confusion with these reward dollars.
