New Disney Credit Card Reward

Yes, that's how I read it too. I got the offer this time for $150-yeah!

Help me understand this then.....My amount is $1000. I spend $1000 and I get double points rewards on the amounts after but not including the $1000?? I was thinking it would apply to the whole balance as long as we spend over the set amount in the month. It's not as great if it doesn't include the set amount too! (especially if your set limit is high!)

I am just curious if those who got the offer are people who have maybe already redeemed Disney Dollars? We went in May and redeemed most of our Disney Dollars at that time...maybe those who didn't get the offer haven't cashed any dollars out yet? Just a thought.

Also it sounds like those who didn't get the offer may get it eventually down the road...???

I cashed in all my rewards dollars for my trip in June. I charge between $200-400 a month (except when at DW, LOL) and pay it in full. I have to spend $150 to get the double points.

I miss the Disney Club......

The "reward" offered to me was for monthly purchases over $1,000 until 10-2005. I sent them an email that said the so called reward for spending even more than we usually would is no reward and that I will start enjoying the "rewards" from using my American Express card!

Methinks we will be using the Dream Dollars we have accumulated for our AP's this fall and then cancel the account.
It has not been any more rewarding than AMEX.

I am a little ticked at the way they are doing the "billing" cycle and the points cycle..... I called to get my disney dollars transferred for our trip next week. I had been really charging a lot on that card thinking that I could transfer the double points in time for our trip..... WELL..... we only had the regular amount of points for this month. I called and talked to the guy and he said it is awarded on the calendar month not the billing cycle month. That to me seems stupid. I got the regular amount of points on the 15th... then I guess I get more on the 30th? Wierd! We will be home by then! ARggg. I definitely wouldn't have been pushing that card so hard had I realized that......

Oh well..... it will add to the next trip I guess.:(

Also, if I'm not mistaken, I thought I read that it may take something like 4-6 weeks for the bonus points to post. I want to really keep track and make sure I am getting the double points correctly and this certainly doesn't make it easy.

My special offer is double pts for certain purchases like drug stores, grocery stores, dining out & gas purchases so I made sure I used my card for these. I just checked my account on-line & everthing except the gas is marked other! Does that mean that I wouldn't get double pts for my CVS & grocery store purchases?
Has anyone experienced this?

I called Visa because I was a little concerned also. Some items show up properly, others don't. What I was told was that it is all in how the store codes to Visa. What we see online is not what they are using. I had drugstore purchases at Walgreen's and groceries at Jewel. They were listed as 'other' on my online statement, but the rep looked up those transactions and veried that Walgreen's most definitely is coding their transactions as 'drugstores' as Jewel is for 'groceries'. I also verified that purchases at Home Depot, Menard's, Lowe's, and Ace are definitely coded as Home Improvement, even though they say 'other' on my online statement. The kicker is we bought a new fridge from Sears yesterday - weren't counting on the extra Disney dollars, but it would have been nice. He looked up that transaction and it is coded as 'retail'. If we had bought the same fridge from Home Depot, it would have counted towards 'home improvement'.

He said that we will see a new line item on our statements when the bonus dollars come through, so those of us keeping track can verify.

I hope this helps...

thanks las3888-I was concerned - I think I will give them a call to verify my CVS transaction & if it's OK go out & charge some more.

I just called Bank-one & just because the transaction is marked other doesn't mean that you will not get the double points for that particular transaction. CVS & Shop-n-bag are approved trans. even though they are marked as other but my $52. dry cleaner bill will not count because my dry cleaner isn't on the list. What are you supposed to do call to check each purchase? It seems that they have alot of exceptions to their promotions.
Oh well I guess every little bit helps.

I think after my call to Visa what I walked away with is to shop at pretty big chains other than mom and pop shops because the larger the chain, the more likely it is that they will code the purchases accurately. Or, if you shop at mom and pop type places or 'iffy' places, be prepared to not get the double dollars.

My offer was for $2,300 as well! I think that just stinks! So basically because I spend more each month I get a higher limit. Do they not realize that people talk or do they just not care? I am really tempted to just not use the card anymore!

I really don't blame you. We only got lucky because my card isn't used as much as my DH's...my limit was only $150, but DH didn't even get the offer at all. Just not fair, but it did work out for us because we are now both using my card and will take advantage of this as much as we can. I think it really stinks how some have no limits, others are pretty low, while some are really high, and some didn't get the offer at all. Maybe try calling them - might be worth a shot. I know somebody emailed them and they got a pretty canned response...maybe it would help to be live on the phone...sometimes the squeaky wheel .....???

Sorry - forgot to mention this in my last post - if you decide to stop using the card, it might be worth it to call them and tell them why...they may do nothing, but they might want your business and help you out in some way - maybe if enough people called they would change this program somewhat...ya never know.

Gang, this has wandered pretty far afield and has gone from rumor/news to budgeting. I'm moving it to the budget board where it now seems to belong.

I too use this card exclusivly and my amount was $2300. I sent them an email complaining since I saw others had such a low amount. I got this response:

Here is their email address if others want to send their complaints too: CardmemberServices@bankone.com

I got the offer via mail and I also checked online and called to be sure. I apparently have no limit. It just needs to be used on groceries, utilities, gas, etc...

I have a question and I am not sure how to ask it.

I know you only get double points on certain items on what you charge over the limit.

How does Visa determine what transactions are under the limit?

If your limit is $150, is the first $150 charged to the card in a calander month not get the double points? Or the first $150 of eligible items?

Example, if you charge $500 to your card a month, and the first $100 charged is for eligible items and the rest is for non double point items, you get 5 points. However, if the last $100 charged in the month is eligible items, you get 6 points.

Or, it doesn't matter when you charge eligible items. Visa choses which transactions are part of the first $150. And you know they would put all the eligible transactions first.
