New Disney Credit Card Reward

DH has his own credit card and he charges more per month than I do and oddly he didn't get the offer. We decided to have him use my account from now on since our minimum is $150 - we should do fairly nicely for the next year with this.

On my account, that got the offer set for $150, my charging kind of varies - I might spend anywhere from $400-$900 in a month on that card. The average would be about $500-$600 or so. I almost always pay it off month to month - can't think if I have not since I've had the card (which has been about a year)--I don't think so.

We usually put about $1300 on that card, and pay it off every month. I am excited about the double points for this month.... I had to buy a new computer..... and my son put $500 worth of musical equipement on that card so we are well over the $800 this month! ::yes::

I would like to get it lowered though.... we are doing Disney this month and double points would be nice to have.

My offer didn't have a dollar threshold. however, most months, my card sits idle and I don't spend anything at all. Maybe 4 months of the year I carry a balance on the card but it has probably never been higher than $1300.

$2,300 in one month?? I shop ALOT, but they must be insane???

Just spend over $2,300 or more with your Disney's Visa® Card on the spending categories listed below in any calendar month from July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005.1 Once you reach $2,300 in a calendar month, you’ll earn 2% in Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM for every additional dollar you spend over on:

Everyday purchases: groceries, drugstores, gas, dining, dry cleaning

Monthly expenses: utilities, cell phone, home improvements

Entertainment: movies/refreshments, video rentals

If you're already building up Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM, now is a great time to check on your Reward Account balance by calling the phone number on the back of your Disney's Visa® Card or going to bankone.com/disney.

1The bonus rewards offer only applies to purchases made with your Disney's Visa® Credit Card each calendar month from July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005, and classified by VISA as dining, groceries, gas, utilities, dry cleaning, wireless services, drug stores, home improvement, movies/refreshments, and video rentals. Bonus rewards are not earned on balance transfers, Convenience Checks, cash advances, fees, including fees for products that protect or insure the balance of the account, or other finance charges. The maximum reward accumulation during this promotional period is 100 bonus Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM per calendar month. Your credit card account must be open and not in default to receive the bonus rewards at the time the rewards are posted. This bonus rewards offer is non-transferable.

I don't think I received the offer. I received a letter today detailing changes in the terms and conditions. Was this the letter? If so, I would have had to read through a lot of fine print to find the offer.

I also looked on the website and could not find any reference to this promotion.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Didn't get a letter, but when I checked online, it said $650 in the above mentioned catagories.

Applebee's, Chili's, Home Depot & Blockbuster, here I come!!

We got the letter too and we have to spend $800 a month. Our bill is always over that amount so it should not be a problem. We too pay it off every month.

My statement had no such offer. I even went on-line and looked for the offer - nothing. I'd love to know how they decide who gets what.

Quick Question: When they say calendar month, do they mean July 1- 31 or do they mean monthly billing cycle? Our billing cycle starts and ends in the middle of the month. I assume they mean that my bonus dollars will reflect the purchases I make from July 1-31, but you know what happens when you assume.

I asked this question and they mean actual calander month NOT your billing cycle...Just to make it a little more confusing, I guess.

It looks to me like this promotion (again) may not have been too well thought out. I think Disney AND their partners fail to properly estimate the amount of activity and discussion of Disneyphiles. I think 'we' present very curious and abnormal problems for marketers.

We got ours with no limit on spending. I wonder why they are playing favorites. Has anyone called BankOne to see what the deal is?

Our offer was for purchases over $150.00/month in the categories mentioned above. I have recently made 2 very large payments to pay balance off, and have received a letter after each payment stating their concern I am leaving them....I wonder if this is the basis for the lower limit?

Also - has anyone ever tried calling them to try to match a lower interest rate? I tried to get them to match another one of my cards at 7.9%, and was told they won't do it. Just wondering if anyone has had success in doing this, as they seem to have different rules for different people!

Well this is the second time neither my DH nor myself received the double reward offers  I usually charge around $1200 a month and always pay it right away - I guess they don't like that.

Our letter says spend $1000/month for double points. How do they come up with all these different amounts for different folks?! We use our card for everything so it shouldn't be a problem, but $2300/month is just plain ridiculous, even if you usually spend more. Where did they come up with $2300????

We got the offer yesterday @ $650/month.

We usually charge between 1550-2000 / month & pay the balance off in full.

I guess the different amounts are "target marketing" at work.

FYI, I received the following e-mail back denying my request to lower the $2,300 threshhold:

As your credit card company, we value your business. It is important to us that we provide you with timely information regarding your account.

We are pleased to provide a variety of marketing offers to our Cardmembers. Offers may be extended to some Cardmembers and not others for a variety of reasons. The reasons
include the following.

* Certain offers may be extended to a selected group of Cardmembers based on the group's
purchasing habits.
* Offers may be extended to a randomly selected group of Cardmembers to test the popularity of a program before we extend the offers to all of our Cardmembers. In this
case, we determine the number of responses received from the randomly selected group before we provide the offer to all Cardmembers.

We regret that we cannot provide the same offer to all of our Cardmembers. Therefore, we are unable to comply with your request to lower the monthly threshold of $2,301.00 per
month on the double point promotion. However, we hope that you will continue to watch your mail for future offers. If you have Internet access, you may also want to visit our Web site at www.bankone.com to view our current offers.

It is important to us that we fully address your concerns. If you have additional questions, please call us at the toll-free number noted above. For your convenience, we are available 24 hours a day to assist you.

If you have additional questions, please contact us through e-mail or call us at the toll-free number noted below. For faster service, please sign in to your account to send us a secured e-mail. Am I correct in saying you only get the double points once you have gone over your threshhold($800.00 in my case)? Do you guys read that the same way?

If you go to the online page for Disney Bank one it says if you spend $250 or more in a month you get double after that. How can they tell everyone different amounts if the online offer is $250. Is that offer different for everyone. Mine says $250 and that is what I got in the mail. Does anyone have a different amount online?

Yep. To get to that page you have to log in first, and the link takes you to "YOUR" offers.
