New Disney Book includes VMK

There is a new book out about Disneyland that incorperates VMK. It is by Ridley Pearson, the co-author of "Peter and the Starcatchers."

The title is "Kingdom Keepers." It is the first in a series of three for young adults and up. You can read the first chapter on the author's website.

The people who have read it from the other site seem to really love it. I ordered mine from Amazon and it should be here tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to reading it as I really like "Peter and the Starcatchers" and like his adult suspense novels.

To be a cynic...man Disney is pulling in all the synergy stops when it comes to trying to promote their parks. Depending on how well this book catches on ...Disney has yet another way to get tweens and teens to their parks.

But speaking as a Disney nut...all the positive reviews other Disney'ers have been saying about it makes me really want to pick it up.

I don't know if I should be a corporate cynic or a Disney nut when it comes to this! (I'm thinking the Disney nut will win though...)

The children and I have started reading it before bed. Only on Chapter 6 but so far so good. Is there a discussion about the book here on the DIS(besides this one)?

Starwarskid got a signed copy of this book for Christmas from a friend. He hasn't read it, but I did. I really enjoyed the book. However, I think the ending could have been better. The part about VMK was very inaccurate. Do you think it was written before VMK started?

Yes, the book was written while VMK was still in development. I also think the ending could have been better; but it may be because the book is the first in a trilogy.

I absolutely loved this book (minus the part saying there were people in "Disney character costumes" --- I found that a bit much; I do have my own interpretation of how this does still present a fictional portrayal...let me know if you want to chat about it lol) and talked about it to my students. Half of them are reading it right now for their next book report project. I did not know it was part of a triology. Any news on the next?
