So my mom and I were looking up prices for a trip in July to Disney and we saw that the Dining Plans have changed. We usually got the one table service, one quick service and 1 snack option, that way we only really had to pay for breakfast and we were set. We were looking at the options they have now and saw that there was really nothing like that, except for the deluxe dining plan. We have no objections to getting that one, but i was curious about the meals offered. All that plan says is that it is "3 meals", it doesn't say if its ts or qs. does anyone know about this, like what kind of meals it can be used for or if we can choose, or have used this plan yet and can give us some info? I would really appreciate it!!

The basic/regular Dining Plan is 1TS, 1CS, 1 snack....(if you did this plan prior to 2008, realize that starting with 2008 the tip and appetizer are no longer included. You can order an appetizer and pay for it out of pocket of course. And they will present you with a bill at the end of themeal for 18% of the value of the food that you ordered as tip. This is for all TS restaurants, CS restaurants of course have no tip). Cost in 2009 is $39.99 adults; $10.99 ages 3-9. (2008 is $1 less)

The Deluxe Dining Plan is 3 meals a day (your choice of TS or CS), 2 snacks, and a refillable mug. With the Deluxe plan, appetizers ARE included at TS restaurants, however, tip is still billed to you separately at 18% of your meal. Also included is 30 minutes of arcade time (2009 only). Cost is $69.99 adult; $19.99 ages 3-9.

Starting in 2009 there is a Quick Service plan, where you get 2 CS and 2 snacks and a refillable mug. Cost is $29.99 adult; $8.99 ages 3-9.

It's apparently new for 2009....and although allearsnet lists it as part of the Deluxe Dining, I went to WDW's page to get more details after you questioned it....and from there it looks like it's more a package extra for booking online not a Deluxe Dining extra. Sorry, I guess I should have double checked my sources....but, since you have to do a package anyway, looks like it might be worth doing it online....or asking the CM to include it maybe???

When you purchase any Magic Your Way package online through disneyworld.com, you receive:

This is correct only if you have six or more persons in your party.

Parties of five or fewer are given suggested tip amounts of 18% and 20% on the bill but are not billed for an automatic gratuity.

The regular dining plan (1 CS, 1 TS and 1 snack per night of stay) is still an option. There's an error on the website where they are leaving out the CS meal.

Since your last trip was 2007, you may not realize that the regular plan no longer includes an appetizer for adults or the gratuity.

The deluxe dining plan does include an appetizer, but not the gratuity. The meal credits can be used for either TS or CS.

I booked a package plus dining from wdw travel company and i will recieve the arcade minutes too. It comes with the packages.

Because of rude and unwarranted PMs I'm deleting my post. Ya'll can do your own research into the matter or have a surprise when you arrive. I'm done with this post so don't PM me with cuss words again or I will report you to the moderator.

This is not incorrect information. The previous post informed the OP that they would be charged an 18% tip. If their party is two people only, they will not be charged an automatic tip of any amount, but are expected to pay their own tip in an amount they determine. I don't recall where I said the tips were included in the dining plan. They are not included in 2008.

An automatic gratuity of 18% is billed to all parties of six or more.

Parties of five or less may determine the amount they wish to tip. They are not billed automatically. On the receipts, though, are printed suggested tip amounts of 18% and 20% based on the menu prices of their order. It is, however, not mandatory that they pay that amount.

This thread was not intended to be a discussion of tipping. I posted to state that a party of less than six persons using the dining plan will not be charged an automatic 18% tip.

Further discussion of tipping should be referred to the Tipping Info Thread which is a sticky at the top of this page.

Once again TDC Nala is correct. Only parties of 6 or more MUST pay the 18% tip. Tips are NOT included on any plan but parties of 5 or less are not required to tip. And FYI the arcade card is included with ALL MYW package, with or without dining

Thanks

I'm confused. I was at Disney in Sept with my Mum and daughter, just the three of us. The 18% and 20% were on the bill and we were told specifically by many of the servers that those were suggested amounts only. There were a few occasions on that trip where we didn't feel the server deserved either of those amounts and we lowered the tip. No one gave us any hassles or charged any extra tip money to our room.

Has this changed in a month??

thanks
Xanthe

No it hasnt. That poster was confused. NOONE was saying tips were included. If you have 6 or more people in your party you must pay 18% just like any other restaurant in america. If you have 5 or less people in your party you are NOT required to tip at all

As this thread has become a discussion of tipping, it is now closed.

All tipping questions on the restuarant boards should be addressed to the Tipping Info Thread. A sticky at the top of this board will guide you to that thread. The Tipping Info Thread, in its first few posts, also contains information about the policies of Walt Disney World regarding tipping at restaurants.
