New Dining Plan - Is it worth it???

It isn't worth it for us, either. But only because most of the restaurants we want to eat at aren't included in the plan. If we had to change one or two, it would be okay, but 9 out of 10 sit down places we want to eat at aren't included!

But if you're less fussy about where you eat, I think it's a great deal!

I asked this on another thread, but as far as I can tell, that's the ONLY way to get a discounted room if you're using the meal plan, is that correct? Otherwise you'll be paying rack rate for the room?

Well, I have seen several posts that people have received either postcard or email codes that CRO has allowed them to apply to a package including dining. I don't know if they are a particular code or what, but I guess if someone receives a code, he/she should call to try to apply it to the room, tickets and dining package. I've also seen many posts saying that people have tried to use their newly received codes and couldn't add dining when using them.

I have actually used the plan. I think it is worth every penny. I ate my share of $42.00 dollars a day by myself. That didn't include any meals for my daughter. We spend $42 a day and then some. A lot of plan "bashers" seem to be looking for the worst in the plan even before all the details for fully understood. I used the plan January 22 - 30.

I loved the plan so much I just rebooked another trip to Disney for May 8 - 15. I will have the dining plan again.

To each its own but I would kick myself because I would have spend that amount of money anyway. I came out ahead! Do you own homework by looking at the menus on www.wdwig.com. and planning ahead for your family. Only you know your financial situation and what you can afford to spend.

I think it comes down to "if you can afford" to pay for the plan upfront. Everyone who has "actually" used the plan so far has posted that it was a great deal. If you have seen a post from someone who says the plan was a waste I would like to see it.

I have seen alot of posts about the dining plan that just are not true. Some posters on this board like to "guessimate" how the plan works. I can speak from actual use...I vote 100% for getting MYW plus dining!!!

We just received the trip planning thing from Disney, and it has brief rules for MYW dining since we signed up for it. The rules say "single serving non alcoholic beverage". Does this mean no free refills even if they are offered to other guests? If so, that could be a little awkward.

Bump. Would like to know, too.

I think it would be a good plan if you've got kids under 9. Unfortunately we've got a 9 year old and an 11 year old, so the plan wouldn't actually save us anything. . . . I also heard that if you book with Disney a room only ressie and use a AAA discount, you can't use the AAA discount when you make that a package...Anyone know if that's true?

It's kiddos 3-9. The 9-year-old child would be eligible for the child's price. My DD will be 9 when we travel in December, and they only charged us $10/night for her.

You are correct about the AAA discount. If you want to book your reservation through Disney, you can get a AAA discount on your room-only reservation, but you cannot change this to a package that would include dining and keep your AAA discount. The MYW + dining package can only be booked through a AAA travel agent in order to get the AAA discount on the room portion of the package. Believe me....I've tried every way in the world to get a AAA discount on this package through Disney, but I'm always shot down. :( However, I did book our package through AAA and saved $466 over Disney's quote for the exact same package, resort, travel dates, ticket type and room type.
