Does anyone have any word or thoughts on replacement parades for Pixar Parade or Disney Channel Rocks? I heard something about Shake it Up but don't know if there was any truth... My DD's would be all for Shake It Up

I have a feeling we won't be seeing a new parade. There are conflicting stories about why the parade was nixed to begin with. Some say it was due to the new turnstiles messing with the sensors for the parade (apparently AK is having trouble with this too?). My feeling is that it is to make way for an expansion. The parade building that houses the floats for HS is basically behind Star Tours. Since Marvel can't be used in the parks in Orlando, the next logical choice is Star Wars. Again this is in now way a 'guarantee' or anything. This is just what I have heard and to me it makes sense. Only time will tell I guess

A little sad to hear as we love the parades (especially Pixar). Thks for sharing what seems logical. Good to know ahead of time to distract DDs elsewhere...

Good point...

The two logical expansion points are the lots outside of Indiana and star tours and back towards the backlot.

Eventually they'll get to putting some more substance in over there...

Maybe in the next quarter century?

I have heard many rumors that the mickey sorcerer hat will be leaving DHS to make room for new and exciting thing. As well as the rumors for a huge expansion project at DHS I have heard many things about the Pixar play parade from Disneyland making its way to DHS to replace the former parade. Therefor this was one of the reasons the sorcerer hat is to be moved possibly.

I think Disney may be trying to reduce the number of parades across all the parks.

I do wonder if its a case of someone noticing how quiet the shops get around parade times and they've become concerned about all those potential lost sales. :confused3

That would be a real shame. From the number of people watching the parades (as evidenced by how hard it can be to get a good viewing spot), the parades are a big draw!

Yes but they do have plenty of vendors walking up and down the street during the parade selling parade merchandise. They do make plenty of money off of that because what kid hasn't gotten some light up junk from those carts at least once in there lifetime I sure have and I'm sure so has everyone else. I mean come on its a parade they only take a little amount of time and if people are going to buy stuff they'll do it in the stores anyways. I don't think it has a huge impact because of these things parades may take away for that but they do generate a lot from the parades also.

I really don't think parades are on their way out (as a whole) since they've been part of the marketing campaign for FP+, including the ability to "reserve" a spot. I have no insight about whether the HS parade will be replaced or not, but sincerely doubt the WDW parades are ALL (or even MOSTLY) on their way out.
