new development in missing Utah woman story

I saw the article on CNN. When I first saw it yesterday, Scott Pederson popped in my head right away.

How about not condemning the man just yet. We, in this country, are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. And by proof, I don't mean whatever public opinion happens to be at the time.

Suspicious? Sure. But just because he lied about the university acceptance, does not necessarily mean he murdered his wife.

When I first read that she went missing my first thought was *sniff sniff* smells like another Scott / Laci Peterson scenario.

Now it turns out he may have misrepresented some things?

I hope she is found so her parents & family can at least have some type of closure.

Very sad.

I agree...Unfortunately I personally know a few people who have fibbed about how much schooling they've completed and I don't think they are murderers. It does raise a red flag though. I also agree that the majority of cases where a spouse is missing or children are abducted usually links back to immediate family members. I'll say a prayer that this woman is safe.

If he had just lied to a few people about med school, I'd say no big deal. It seems more serious than that though. Apparently they had gone to NC and supposedly picked out an apartment, packed their things, and had arranged for a moving truck....all because he had been accepted into med school there.

Innocent until proven guilty, be he's got some serious explaining to do.

Awwww! My heart just breaks for that women's family!

As far as innocent until found guilty, that does not mean that speculation doesn't happen. We knew who killed my cousin long before he was arrested, tried and found guilty.

I heard about that on my way into work. Just don't understand how the two come together. Missing wife and not telling the truth about applying to med school. I would like to hear the explaination behind all of this.

And I feel for the parents, not knowing what has happened.

I also agree when I first heard the story, Scott Peterson was the first thing I thought of.

Me too. The fact they had a moving van showing up today to move them to NC and he had not been teeling the truth about med school. He didn't even say anything until the police confronted him. He didn't even graduate from the college in UT like he told everyone. Sounds way too fishy.

I hope he is not involved and she will be foudn safe.

I saw the woman's parents on Greta Van Sustern and they swore up and down that he is a decent guy! I don't know what to think? Someone also saw her stretching before she went jogging.

It's also very close to where Elizabeth Smart lives, a very strange coincidence.:(

I read today that he also lied about graduating from school. I find that really strange that he lied about all that stuff. Hmm...I wonder why? I hope everything turns out alright, but it doesn't sound too good.

I'm still not convinced that Scott Peterson did it...It's a sad fact, but TONs of people have affairs but most don't kill their spouses, esp. to go so far as to kill their unborn child.

As a married woman, it always scares me that the spouse is always the first "person of interest." What if DH and I had a big fight and I told my friends about it, then he turns up murdered? It would be horrible to have to hire a lawyer to defend yourself when you're grieving the loss of a spouse.

I think what it shows is that when folks are subject to extreme scrutiny, lots of stuff comes out...remember the intern who disappeared who happened to be having an affair with the congressman?

I guess LOTs of people have secrets!

I wonder if the Peterson defense will try and bring this case up at the trial to try and connect the two? They could say the killer is still out there and struck again. Not that I believe that though.

I just read on CNN that the Utah guy has now checked himself into the psychiatric unit of a hospital due to the stress of his "missing" wife.

Yeah right, I think he's trying to set up his defense already! Insanity!

Really a strange story. He clearly has motive. If, as reported, the wife had no idea that he hadn't been admitted to medical school ... one would imagine that she would NOT HAVE BEEN AMUSED to move across the country, pregnant, away from her family, to discover that was the case ... he had to do something ...
