Dear Mandy,Dear Meg,
I know you weren't talking to me, but I just wanted to say you are doing a great thing for her just by being there. At this point that's all you can really do, she has to want to stop in order to stop. When that time comes, you'll be there, just like you are now. And that means the world to her, I'm sure. Just knowing that someone is there for you and cares makes it better. =)

Dear Mandy,
thanks so much.
I mean, I know she gets injuries because she's a soccer player and all (goalie/forward) but...it just worries me that she'd resort to cutting. I never really expected it from her, and when she bluntly told me, I freaked out (another close friend of ours was beyond worried as well). What scared me more was that I didn't see the signs, and I'd known her 3 years before she told me. I know that she really trusts me, though, or else she'd have never told me this.
It's kind of funny, because our grandfathers graduated from the same school the same year, and they were friends.
Even funnier is that we spell our name the same way, and have the same house number.
I don't know, she means a lot to me, and, well, I love her. She's like a big sister to me.
Annnnnd now I'm rambling again
But thanks SO much
Meg
Dear Mandy,Dear Meg,
She definitely trusts you if she decided to tell you. It's ok that you didn't see the signs, they usually try to hide them from everyone because they're afraid, ashamed, many reasons. But what's important is that she did tell you, and even though she tells you nobody can get her to stop, I think telling someone about it is at least a tiny step closer to recovery. She might be saying she doesn't want to stop because self-harm sort of becomes like a comfort object, hard to let go of and addictive. If you haven't seen this already, it might help out a little: http://www.selfharm.net/ffriend.html
You guys sound like you've got quite a bit of history. I can tell you care about her so much. You're a great friend, really you are. I'm sure she'll make it through ok. She's lucky to have you. =)
And really, it's no problem, I love helping with this stuff.![]()
