New dates for free DDP 2012

Am I correct that this is only for overseas people?

Depends where you are. I assume you are in the US, then yes its for overseas visitors. US DDP offers have not been released for 2012 yet as far as I know.

So basically free dining for the whole summer? Are bookings slow?

No idea if bookings are slow or not but the high flight costs and the amount of threads I read about cutting back and going less I would expect it to have a big effect on Disney.
After a few years of enjoying multiple trips a year(upto 4) I am seriously considering not going between this August and next August.
I am earning approx half what I was 5 years ago, Energy costs sky high, Petrol & Diesel bill up from £100-£125/month to around £250/month.
We were planning on staying offsite next year going mid July, now probably OKW again & free DDP with the new offer. Back to number crunching again.:goodvibes

. Way too far out to say if they are ahead or behind schedule, however I'd be certain Disney has a survey somewhere that says British guests spend WAYYYY MORE money than the average American guests and that by getting those Brits to stay on property instead of staying in a villa/hotel/condo off property Disney will see a lot more of their money. IMHO it's probably more a reaction to the success of Harry Potter at Universal than anything else. If staying on Disney those families might venture to Universal for a couple of days, if staying off property they'd probably go 3,4 or 5. The extra money those families will spend on golf, cirque, DTD stores, alcohol , gifts, soft drinks in the parks etc etc while on Disney property probably outweighs any "losses" they make by offering the free dining. Much of the cost of "free dining" is mitigated by the service charge/tip , profit on alcohol sales and any "extras" people order at the table.

It could also be that Disney knows the Brits commit MUCH earlier to their vacations than the Americans do and because they have to book ( and pay for ) their flights they cancel at a much lower rate. The Brits also switch their dates around much less, which makes planning easier for Disney. It allows Disney to offer targeted "specials" to fill slower resorts while leaving those that are popular undiscounted. IMHO it makes a lot of sense that if you realise you'll probably have to discount 30% of your occupancy , reward the people that commit early and it may limit how much discounting you have to do nearer to the time.

Also the reduced price on OKW and SSR is on the Complete Orlando site for July as well. Didn't think we would get three weeks fitted in but it was great to choose the weeks we wanted :)

Looks like the booking deadline has been extended as well to 30th Nov - I think it was 31st Jul when I last checked. Not going to WDW this year :sad1: but looking to book OKW for 2012...

Better get my skates on and book it soon :goodvibes

I hope they extend the OKW/SSR deal, can't see me booking before we get back from this trip in August. No big deal though we have just been saying tonight how much we miss the offsite dining with free DDP. Just feel we should do it while the great offer is on, there is no way I will pay full price.

Thanks for the info!. I'm also glad to see this extended as we are still undecided about what to do next summer.

Oh im glad they extended it, dont wanna book till this years paid off!

I did notice in the T&C they now have check out dates listed too.

I did have interest in the offer but need only 4 nights and as it requires 5 nights minimum plus purchase of tickets we don't need so will stick to using the US room only discounts for now as we need a few nights on cash in addition to our DVC stays!

I should not have looked at this thread :thumbsup2

We were debating whether to renew my AP and where to go off-site.
Normally we are self catering folks with some meals.

The idea of DDP would make me consider some of the various table service options.

Crunching numbers like the rest of you plus looking at the 1 bed villa Beach Club £3,388 or 2 bed OKW/SSR £3,752 for 5 people/14 nights.

What would you normally spend on hotels & food over 14 nights? we find staying at OKW (studio, 3 of us) costs slightly more than offsite in a budget hotel (£30-35/nt) and eating offsite. Maybe an extra £20/night but we get to eat at places I would not pay the price for (Yachtsman would have been $163 last year) also, although I am not a big drinker I enjoy a couple of nights without driving(drinks around the world & Hoop)
Dislike paying for net at $10/day but then get free parking so some is offset with that.
If you have never tried Onsite/DDP I recommend everyone to try it once, I never expected to enjoy it or think it was good value but this is 3rd year we have done it now.

do the 2 BR OKW - you won't be sorry!! the place is HUGE!!!!!! GIGANTIC!!! ENORMOUS!!!! it's really big....1,350 square feet....that's bigger than some people's houses!!
and one TS, one CS and one snack a day per person....that's a lot of food included!!

Go for the 2 bed - the one bed at BCV will be cramped for 5 of you for 14 nights. The units at BCV only have the King bed in the master and queen sleep in the lounge.

One beds at OKW have the King bed in the master, queen sleeper sofa & a single sleeper chair - so would be a better option than the one bed at BCV.
