New dates for FD and changing existing reservations

I think I know the answer to this one, but I thought I would post here to get confirmation. We were originally booked for Oct 22-29 without FD. When the FD came out, we changed our package to Oct 23-29 to get FD and booked a room only reservation for the same resort for our arrival date.

The FD dates have now changed and include Oct.22 - however when I look online for availability for Oct 22-29 there is no availability for our resort.

So I'm thinking that we can't change back to have one package since there is no availability at the resort that we chose - correct?? One option would be to change resorts, but we really don't want to do this, just to get FD for 1 extra day - not worth it in our opinion.

To be honest, we are not all that concerned about getting the FD for our arrival date. We have booked an ADR at T-Rex for our arrival date and it's not on the DDP. The big advantage of having one reservation as I see it, is that we would only have to check-in once, we would not have to request an early ticket pick-up and all of our reservation would be linked to our KTTW.

Not sure this answers your question, but if you are checking for availability through the free dining special area there may not be availability but there may be availability if you are not using free dining. There are a "set amount" of rooms available for any of the specials, I believe, so you may be able to change back if you call without free dining.

Not that this will help you, but our dates were Oct 23rd-1st with a room only on October 22nd. I noticed last night that dates were changed to include the 22nd so I made the change to reflect the new dates and cancelled my room only. Great news because now our entire stay will be FD! I'm just personally tired of talking on the phone with them and making changes haha. Every time I say this is the last change something else comes up. Luckily it has all been positive changes though!

Yes, I am checking under the FD - we do want to keep our FD package, just would have liked to switch back to our original reservation + FD. You are correct there is availability at the resort without FD.

I presume that there was availability for your resort for FD during this period. We are in the same boat, except we check-out on Oct 29. Which resort are you booked at?

call and ask.. I just did this this morning for a client.. they were booked the first day with room only.. the remainder with the free dining and I was able to convert it all over to free dining.. :thumbsup2 give them a call and see.. did you book through Disney or a TA? If a TA, they should have already looked into this for you.. If through Disney, give them a call and see if you can cancel your room only and add the first day to your existing FD package. :thumbsup2

currently on the phone with Disney, will update once I'm off the phone. I was speaking to a CM and am currently on hold.

Just got off the phone with a very nice CM. Unfortunately since the FD rooms are sold out for the period of Oct 22-29, she could not add an extra day of FD for Oct 22 and then cancel my room-only reservation. She did offer other resorts that have availability, but as I had previously posted, we would rather not change.

So to recap this thread, you can add a FD date that was originally blacked-out, but there must be availability on this date, if not they can not add FD for that date.

I'm glad that I made the call, she did say to keep checking and if someone cancels, that I may be able to add it at that point.

I did he just added the first night since we were going Jan 21-29 but would have to stay offsite then move over. Now we get the 21st FREE as well . Saves us of changing resorts or rooms and loosing park time. We fly in at 12:45 that day . It may just be a busy time of the year for that time. I am guessing Jan end of is slower. But yes we added!!

bummer! I guess I got lucky this morning and they happened to be availability...
I guess its "okay" that its only one day... you'll still have a wonderful time!

I'm not worried about this. The big bonus would have been to have 1 reservation for the entire week, and not have to check-out/check-in.

I was unable to add Saturday either. The room category is not available for FD... I tried checked online and called to no avail... Still hoping for RO... I'd hate to add an extra day at Rack Rate with no discount.

Habsfan, I'm the same date and tried to get the 22nd added to my package and switch from RO but no luck. I'm annoyed. I can live without the extra credits but I hate the checking in and out thing. :sad2: I'll keep checking maybe people will cancel as the 45 day mark approaches?
