New D23 Expo Superthread! (6/24/2019)

I’m inside and there’s still a ton of room in here so fingers crossed.

We waited for MOG earlier and it was at just under two hours.

Just got out of the movies panel it was awesome. We got a pack of posters for onward, frozen 2, and rise of skywakler on the way out.

It was great meeting you as well

Today was a good day, and better because it was spent with DIS friends.

I had an incredible time at the Disney Movie Rewards, I mean Disney Movie Insiders (new name announced tonight ) event. Same “issues” as above - seats would have been great after a long expo day. But river front viewing section for Fantasmic was icing on the cake. Really thoughtful event, excellent food and the DMR staff were all tremendous. Friendly, personable, and really care about their members.

Because I was paranoid, I decided to line up. No line at bag check, in fact I didn’t encounter anyone except staff the whole walk to Hall E. Just got inside a few minutes ago and there’s barely over a hundred people so far. Gold section B is at row 4 and sections A and C were still filling their first row. Oh well at least I won’t keep myself up all night worried now!

Thank you @dmeets for the update. I was planning to get my sister up at 2 to get ready, but now I might push that back a bit. I will probably check Twitter updates and here to decide then.

Strange. They’ve been making announcements on the show floor that seats are still available for Broadway.

We did end up getting in, though it had already started. I have no idea why we were held upstairs as long as we were.

HM 50th panel at the Arena this morning. CMs told me not to line up because "there is no line," but that when the line did form, "it will be a stampede." Well, thank you -- so what are you going to do to prevent that from happening? As usual with D23, nothing. The crowd was allowed to form a mass line/horde, then pushed back and told to go away, then allowed to reform, pushed back again, then allowed to regroup and get bigger. Someone said the police were there to disperse stubborn crowds who refused to disperse. I didn't see any policemen, but I was sort of crushed in the middle of the mass. The pressure on the ropes/CM barrier was too great and they had to break. We were allowed to run through while CMs tried to shout, "No running!"

SO glad I opted for stand by - I’m afraid I would have been trampled.

Earlier, many people had lied about having SP and had gotten downstairs, thus shutting out many people who really did have SP. The people cut off outside were not happy.

Didn’t it say somewhere that badges would be scanned or checked for stage pass?

it was quite a trek getting from Hall D23 to the Arena in time for the show!

I will be making this trek today! Maybe twice...pending me finally deciding what to see in one Timeslot.... guess I can work on that while I am waiting to get in. Not there yet,,,,and am glad to hear the crowds are much smaller as I’m not rushing to get out the door this morning,

Here at 4 am. B gold is full. A and C have about 2 rows full, so 4 each left empty.

Also here- today they are taking us in thru the downstairs escalator entrance to the basement. Again no issues with food or water. All Show floor lines noticeably shorter. And I don’t see any chairs.

Hall E. Here at 4:40. Gold available in A & C. We chose A, and are the first few of the last Good row. It's filling fairly quickly. Can't see C..

Lots of standby available. Only one row barely started.

5:00 Am... In A section, I just noticed they rebranded 3 of the reservation queue rows to be gold. So it looks like they're letting more Gold in this morning. So in A there are two more rows now sitting empty. B looks full, and from what I can see from the far end of A, C looks to have extended room as well.

5:54 AM Gold update Took a small walk around.
Looks like they added four rows to A, and only two for B & C. With space still available in C.

Edit update at 6:30 AM. I see four Gold rows added at C now. So A&C received four and B received two.

We got here for Park around 4:45-5:00 and asked about Gold, but they have an HA section today, so that is where we are. We have wristbands, so yeah!

In Hall E, I talked to two Cast Members and thanked them for being here this year, commenting how we've noticed their presence has led to a smoother event this year. They were both genuinely pleased to hear and gracious in accepting the thanks. Nice.
