New CSR info!

Here is some great news I just heard from a reliable source and fellow Disney lover. It was given to them by a manager.

Rix (the new Francisco's) probably won't open for at least a couple of more weeks due to building permits (it keeps getting pushed further, but hopefully by the end of November anyway!). Rix is being describe as more of a disco with live entertainment, and it is supposed to look VERY nice when done - lots of money put into it.

Coronado is slated for room rehabs in 2008.

Coronado is looking at making the Pepper Market more user-friendly. (I already think it's great but the changes may help others)

The outdoor bar (Laguna Lounge) was supposed to be temporary BUT now CSR plans to keep it and add an awning going outside, but I'm not sure how that will work.

CSR may upgrade their offerings from the room service menu as well.

Of course, everything can be subject to change - you know how Disney is! But Coronado is already a higher-end moderate (with a lot of the characteristics of a deluxe), and they seem to be wanting to pursue that further.

Great!!! That just sealed the deal for us for our summer 2009 trip. We already love CSR, but these additions will make it even better. Thanks for the info!!!

Live entertainment would be great. I know I love Scat Cats at POFQ entertainment. Full room service menu is a great idea too. Maybe the room updates they'll put in 2 sinks and dump that ugly armoire in the Casitas.

Last 2 visits to Disney 2000 and 2001; stayed off property. This is our first time to stay on WDW and we booked our trip at the last minute. Also it's a Bday trip for me...and only my DH and I, so want it to be special. I'm turning 49 and want to kick off my "50" year with a celebration

Had res at OKW but it was pricier and found a better deal on line for CSR through Southwest Airlines. Would rather spend money on other things...like Victoria and Albert's (snagged a last minute reservation for my bday)

I was hesitant at first because you always hear how great the deluxe resorts are...but the vast amount of information and praise on this thread has given me peace of mind. Could only book a standard, but the request info gives me hope for a nice view and also the convention schedule shows we are arriving between the departure of one group and the arrival of another. Good to know, Thanks for that.

What are the beds like? We are a little picky (because we are getting older)
Please give some feedback on that.
Also what are the favorite locations. From the pics I kind of like the Casitas
Want peaceful. Decent view.

Thanks Buzz! with any luck Rix will be ready for us on 12/3. Our kids will be in Simba's Cub Club and were were looking for some place for a couple of quick dances without having to pay admission to PI. Someplace on-site to our room will be perfect!

The beds are new and they are thick pillowtop type mattresses.

Here are some good choices.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is the old smoking optional building.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

We are staying at CSR again in January 2009 (stayed the first time in Aug 2005 and loved it) and I am now very excited, since there will be room refurbs (YEA! ). I can't wait. Please post pictures when you can.

Thanks - love the idea of a 2008 rehab - fresh paint, maybe rug & furniture upgrades.

We plan to return to WDW Easter 2010 - CSR is our moderate choice.
