I just unpacked my expression and I have a few questions for those who have one...
Obviously I must need all of the "inks". I have 7 carts, do I need anything else???
Obviously I have NO idea what I am doing and would like to make mickey all of his right colors, so how do I go about doing this?

THANKS FOR THE HELP IN ADVANCE!!

You need a blade, a mat, and 1 cart to get started. The inks aren't to color in the image but instead to outline if if you choose. I have the inks but I haven't played with them much yet. If you want to make Mickey his right colors you need tofind cardstock to match his colors and cut each section of it in the right color at the same height and then glue him together. The easiest way to find the right colors is to look for cardstock while holding a Mickey stisker you think has good coloring and find matching cardstock for each part of him.

The blade and mat should have come with the machine. Get used to the expression before you start playing with the markers. They basically go where the blade goes and does an outline of the shape you are making.

Melissa, you are going to think I am a nut, but here I go referring you to manual. (If only I did this much reading in high school ;) )

Follow the steps in the Mickey & friends (I think you said you had that one, right?). It shows how to do each layer of Mickey. Worse case scenario, give me a call, and I'll come over to show you how to play.

The spatula for getting your pieces off the mat is handy to have, too.

i think you should bring your expression with you to Lisa's crop next week and lisa, BAMB and i could give you a class on how to use the expression
have fun with it

You girls are awesome!

I guess I got a little excited and ahead of myself! But I did win all 4 sets of inks on ebay for less than $30.

I cannot wait to really play with this thing!

Lisa, I actually felt like the manual wasnt all that impressive. I am a little nutty too, since I read manuals for EVERYTHING!

I cant make it to Lisa's crop next week, we are going to Nantucket for vacation, and I cant make Aug because I will be on the Cape for a scrapbook weekend.
I def plan to be there in Sept!

THANKS LADIES!

I use the Cricut ALL the time and never use the inks.

My thought is - if I use the inks, then I will have to cut it out by hand --- then what's the point of having the Cricut?

My biggest advice to you - don't start w/ the Mickey/Disney Carts. They have so many layers and can be somewhat complicated.

Get used to using the cart(s) that came with the machine and get comfortable with those.

The little books that come w/ the carts in the cart box will be your biggest help.

When using the inks, you do the outline of the shape with the ink. Then replace the ink with the blade, and cut. It really is cool.

Melissa, I found if I did the layers in the order the manual suggested, it did help. The Disney characters are hard because of the little pieces, best to do those larger, minimum at 5.5 inches.
