On **************** is an article that addresses 8 changes needed for WDW. Number 3 deals with updating WS and mentions that Puerto Rico is "bidding" on having a pavilion at WS. Is Disney actively looking to add more countries to WS?

Yes.....Puerto Rico will house Anna and Elsa's "Summer Getaway Ride."

A rollicking, family-friendly coaster ride through the Puerto Rican countryside, inclusive of your favorite Frozen characters sporting summer-y renditions of their signature outfits while sipping from nonalcoholic umbrella drinks, culminating in a melting Olaf at the end.

You can buy a "Melted Olaf" drink at the snack bar in a keepsake collector cup (just don't tell the kids it's really only ice water).

:thumbsup2

I have no doubt that Disney would love to add a new country to WS. The problem is finding a sponsor to pay for the new pavilion. I'm wondering if the government of PR can afford it.

As I last recall, I don't think PR is a country. It's a U.S. territory that has been bidding on/off about joining the U.S as a real state.

Of course, that's just splitting hairs, but it would be weird to have a U.S terrritory in WS as a "country". But then again, Arendell is apparently a country. :crazy2:

At the end, just before he melts, Olaf says, "That was the most wonderful ride of my life...aaaand quite possibly the last." :rotfl2:

If they have good Bacalaitos (codfish fritters) and Coquito (Puerto Rican eggnog) available at the pavilion then I'm all for a Puerto Rican pavilion.I think they would also have a nice architectural style to use for a new pavillion, they could do a mini El Morro fort and have some walkable narrow cobblestone streets showcasing the Spanish colonial style in Old San Juan.

I wonder if there are other countries actively looking to get into WS. Personally, I think a pavilion for Australia, Russia, or Brazil would be a welcome addition.

Does Arendelle count?

Puerto Rico had a temporary "pavilion" that it sponsored for the Food & Wine festival. Somehow it got out that they were bidding for a more permanent presence, which apparently is not true.

I don't see any big discrepancy in having a Puerto Rican pavilion among a world showcase of other pavilions, even if the majority of them are countries or made-up fairy tale lands.

Seriously ? :rolleyes2 This was just a rumor around the boards.. My hometown did participate at the Food and Wine Festival for the first time this year and that was it.. Hope you were able to enjoy some of our delicious recipes; like Pina Colada without the bitterness..:rolleyes1

Nice ! Now you are making me homesick.. Glad to hear that you were able to enjoy our favorite recipes at the festival..:thumbsup2

If Disney really wanted to build a new country, they would just do it.

Since it's been 25 years since a new country was added, they either aren't actively seeking sponsorship partners, or just aren't doing a very good job of it.

Yeah, for seriously. I heard it from the cousin of the girlfriend of the local bus driver who went to WDW once. :thumbsup2

Wait.....WUT!?!?!? :sad1:

Agree with this. Personally, if they were going to add a new country, Puerto Rico would be lower on my list. I would love Israel to get a spot, though. Can you imagine it this time of year? They could do a great storyteller and focus on Hanukkah. During the Flower and Garden Festival in the spring, they can have a special food booth with various Passover foods. Australia would also be pretty cool, but I feel like it more needs to be added to Animal Kingdom.

I'm holding my breath for New Zealand / Australia and/or Greece.

Puerto Rico had a great booth at this years Food & Wine festival. It was bigger than many of the other countries. Puerto Rico is a great choice if a new country is added to WS. :thumbsup2

Hey everybody: Puerto Rico is not a country. It's part of the United States.
