We own at SSR. We really like AKV and want to buy a small contract there. Question: would we only have 11 month booking priority at AKV on the small contract? What if we transferred SSR point to the AKV account? I tried to find the answer to this on the forum but couldn't. Any help is appreciated!

You answered yourself correctly in the first part. The 11 month advantage goes by home resort. You can only combine points at different resorts at 7 months.

If you title the new contract exactly the same as the first, and they have the same UY, they will be under the same member # and transferring isn't an issue, or even possible.

If the new contract is a different UY or under different names from the first, transferring still won't get you what you want since transferred points retain the original home resort and 11 month advantage for those points and that resort. They can be combined, as with the first part of my response, at 7 months only.

The AKV points are the only ones who get the 11 months at AKV. Transferred points keep their resort and use year when transferred so that won't help you.

As already discussed, transferred SSR points into an AKV contract are still SSR points and can only be used to book AKV at the 7 month mark.

The thing you can do with a small AKV contract is to used banking and borrowing to make it a big AKV contract every 2-3 years. For example, if you have a 50 point contract, you could do a 100 point stay every other year and use your SSR points on the other year. Or you could do a 300 point stay every third year.

One thing to keep in mind about AKV is that it has fairly wide availability most of the year. The only advantage to owning there is the coveted value and concierge rooms. All of our points are AKV and we used them to stay in both of those categories more than once. Outside of those classifications, you can get most room types most of the year at the 7 month mark with your SSR points.

Great point, Kidani. We just bought our SSR contact so we will probably see how it plays out for a year or two. Thanks!
