We just got back from Disney and loved it, We are going back next year to take our 2 year old son. But the year after that we are gonna live on the fun side to get a feel of the parks I was wondering what resort do ya'll suggest? What are the things to do? When is the best time to go fro less crowds? Should we get a meal ticket? How many day for each park? How late is the citywalk normally open? Thanks

All three resorts are lovely. RPR tends to be the cheapest. It has a tropical, South Seas feel. The rooms are generally smaller and there is no pool slide. But the pool does have a cute water play area. The Hard Rock is our fav. The rooms are a little spacier. The whole place has a hip vibe. The pool is awesome and our son loves the slide. HRH is also the closest to the parks, you can walk in about 8 mins or so. Probably different with a two or three year old though. There's also bus and boat transportation. The Portofino is usually the most expensive and more luxurious, I guess. We have not stayed there.

Staying on site means you get express entrance to the rides by showing your hotel key card. The best perk ever thought of!!

We've only been in Feb (Pres. week) and December (2nd week). Honestly, with FOTL privileges, it doesn't matter! I am sure there is someone who can tell you the slowest times though.

We haven't tried the meal deal, but haven't heard many positive things about it. We may try it for one day of our stay. Not sure.

As far as how many days...I think it's relative. I'll take as many as I can get, but you could probably do it all in 3 days. For me, that's too short. I want to see and do it all--more than once! 4 days is probably ideal...2 for each park. We have ressies for 8 nights this coming Feb!

City Walk is open 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. according to the website.

I have stayed at both RPR and HR and we prefer RPR as we find the pool area more relaxing. Room size doesn't matter to me as we are only there to sleep anyway. Helps that it is a little cheaper. Be sure to become a Lowes member even though they have reduced benefits.

Going down on Thursday and I can't wait.

I'd agree with the pp that 3 days is adequate enough time to experience both Universal parks (depending on crowd levels). You can get more value by getting an all-week pass, depending on how long you plan your trip for. I've done all of USF & IOA in 2 days, but this was during a slow time of year.

You can do all the rides and shows in 2 days staying on-site no problem..

WE been somemany times that now we look at the little things that make Universal and IOA so special to our family..Like the amazing detail of Toon Island and Suess Landing to the little things in the Que lines of Twister-Jaws-Mummy.
All I say is donnt go commando style,take in all the sites and sounds that USO has to offer,you wonnt be dissapointed!!!

I am a newbie on this site so forgive me if I am not in the right spot. I have a question in regards to my 8 year old daughter whom will be assigned to the Oceaneer Lab because the ages are 8-12. She has 3 cousins there ages are 4,6, and 7 and of course they would be in the Oceaneers Club for the ages of 3-7 I was wondering if they make any exceptions and if she could get into the younger group?THANKS.

Hello Cathy...the Oceaneer's Club is with DCL and doesn't have anything to do with Universal...if I'm thinking about the right thing. But...the age limits are usually pretty strict based on what I know about the parks. You might want to post on the Disney side to see if you get more responses.

Thank ya'll for the help and advice. When we go we will not be bring our son it will be alone trip and we figured 5 days to do everything and relax. I think with the front of line perk it gives you more time to do everything not in a rush. I hope my wife likes unversal better so we don't have to go to disney every year that gets to expensive
