New codes o.k.--not as good as 2001

I checked out the new codes today. While they provide some nice discounts,
they are not as generous as the summer of 2001. (I know this is no news bulletin
to you longtime Disney vets.)

Last year, we got the Contemporary Tower for 199/night--using this year's
code it would be about 250/night.

I'm not complaining--I was just hoping I would have gotten as lucky as I
did last year.

I guess I'll just keep our reservations for the Dolphin (despite the recent
string of bad reviews on the resort board). It'll still be great!

I'm with you......still hoping for a better rate at Poly in June
I am a bit disappointed that the AP rates are not what they have been in previous years too!
Seems to me that Disney has made a smaller discount available to more people in order to get more people down there across the board, not just at certain times.

Annie 2871,

Try this! Good luck.

Yes, I agree too. I only a few days to decide if I want to renew my AP pass at the discounted rate and I will not. I don't see any difference in the ap discounts verses the codes. Carolyn

I'm disappointed too. No discounts for deluxe resorts, which of course we're staying for the first time this year. Will this be it or is there any hope for any additional discounts coming out?

TC

The "not quite as good" discount rates are probably the result of predictions of a better economy and that people are "getting over" from Sept 11. Discount rates might improve if gasoline prices continue to rise and becomes too expensive for people to travel by car (or air if jet fuel also becomes much more expensive). Just keep checking the rates until you pull out of the driveway!

Hey Fargoman...you pulled it together! We were both saying last year that it would be at least a few years 'till we could get back and here we both are planning return visits! It's so much fun to vacation at WDW! Did you get a good rate at the Dolphin? PM me if you don't mind my curiosity...we are doing US/IOA and trying to add 2 days at Disney. I will be turning 40  in July and we hope to be switching over and checking in then. I have ressies for PO-R., but not sure about it. Happy for you and your family that you're heading back. When are you going?

Yes, I agree, we got $49 rates last summer for All Stars.

$49/$74... not as good.

We found an offsite cheaper.

I thought the new codes were actually pretty good...I got the Wilderness Lodge from June 28-July 5 for $144.00 (incl. tax) and the Contemporary for August 18-25 for $148.00 (inc. tax). This was much better than my AP rate. They are standard rooms but that is really fine for us!

FINFAN--

GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN.

YEAH, WE HAD PRETTY MUCH TALKED OURSELVES OUT OF GOING BACK
TO WDW THIS YEAR, BUT I BUMPED INTO ONE OF MY DISNEY BUDDIES
AT WORK AND I CAUGHT THE FEVER AGAIN.

WE FOUND WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A GOOD DEAL (188) RT OUT OF MSP, ONLY
TO DISCOVER 9 DAYS LATER THAT DELTA IS OFFERING 135! MULTIPLY BY 5 AND
I MADE A $265 MISTAKE.

ON THE UPSIDE, WE ARE GETTING THE DOLPHIN FOR THE TEACHER'S RATE OF
$129. AND, NOW, THANKS TO SOME HELPFUL DISNEY BOARD VETS, I'VE
JOINED STARWOOD'S PREFERRED GUEST PROGRAM TO GET STAR POINTS
FOR UPGRADING OUR STANDARD ROOM. I'VE ALREADY PICKED UP 2,000 POINTS
BY SIGNING UP FOR AT&T ONLINE AND I'LL GET MORE NOW THAT I'VE OPENED
AN AMERICAN EXPRESS ACCOUNT!

WE WILL BE STAYING JULY 29-AUG. 5.

AND, OH BY THE WAY, I, TOO, TURN 40 IN JULY!

ENJOY YOUR LAST DAYS OF YOUTH!!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!
