New clubhouse, no mention of OKW slide...

Sorry if thsi has been discussed, but I'ev been out of the loop with a sick family. Just glanced at the new clubhouse. No mention of OKW's slide still, uh?

It was no "rumor" it was announced at the OKW association meeting by the DVC president. Now, it could be that they changed their mind...but it WAS announced. Of course, the Newport Beach resort was "announced" as well.

Things can, and often do, change between announcement and implementation.

Hey now...some of us OKW owners with young kids would love to see a slide put in. We would also love to be able to go to SAB, but....a slide at OKW would be great.

There are other pools at OKW that don't have slides either that are just as tranquil & serene as the main one just like most of the other resorts - they're called "the quiet pools". So the folks that are in opposition of the slide can enjoy each other's company at one of those pools.

Weather anyone remembers or not, there was a survey and it asked about a slide and it was voted down.


Now in their usual fashon, Disney laid down for a bunch of whiners. That's actually amazing and they do it all the time. Whiners win with WDW.

Why should I have to stray from the main pool? I bought into a resort with a certain atmoshpere and appeal, they ought to put it at one of the other pools....or better yet, at another resort.

A friend's family just returned from OKW this past weekend - they asked two different CM's about the proposed pool slide at OKW and neither one claimed to know anything about it! Has anyone else who's been to OKW recently been able to find out anything about this?

You wouldn't have to stray from the main pool, but you'd have the option to use another pool if a slide was indeed at the main pool. If it was at the Turtle Pond pool or one of the other pools you would have the option of using that one or using the main pool, just like you do now.

I also bought at OKW for it's atmosphere and appeal, but that doesn't mean I'm opposed to a change.

When polled, the majority of OKW owners were against it. I think Disney has some nerve doing this in the face of that survey.

I'm a OKW owner and wasn't asked, guess I was overlooked.

I am in favor of putting the slide in. I like the quietness too, but at the same time I would love my daughter to be able to enjoy a slide at OKW. Maybe I am used to all of the resorts (except for OKW) that we have gone to so far having the slides.

....just my opinion...

The survey was sent out a few years back and it polled the membership at that time if they were in favor of the slide. It was voted down by a majority then.

I have to agree with Rich here. I would rather not have the slide. I really think it would have been better if the DVC had polled the membership and asked them for their choice here. If the majority had voted in favor it would have been easier for me to accept than this arbitrary decision that Disney has made on behalf of the membership.
