New children’s event at the Grand Floridian Resort…

She said it was for anyone staying concierge, it did not have to be the Grand Floridian. I do think that the concept of a princess tea party is a wonderful one, so I hope that it is continued. I would like to see them open it up to everyone. However, can you just imagine the phone lines being any more jammed than they already are at 7:00?

It is NOT concierge only. We have booked and we are staying at The Swan. We weren't even asked where we were staying. If you call the number listed on the first post, it is a dedicated phone line which will get you straight through. They answered the phone with the name of the event and the CM is very knowledgeable on the event.

nice idea, but very expensive for an hour and a half.

I don't think the dolls is necessary either.. (my daughter has many also) but the bracelet is a nice touch.

Another less expensive option would be a book.. maybe a book on princesses... or somthering liket hat.

After reading about the "My Disney Doll Princess Tea Party" I have been trying to figure how to get there. So, I called my sister and she loved the idea too. We're taking our DDs. One just turned 5 and the other is turning 6 during the trip. It is going to be a joint birthday surprise! We'll be there on Sunday, Oct 26!

For those attending the tea party, will you dress-up? I figure we will with the cost and the setting. (I might even wear a hat.)

Also, we are not staying conceirge and it was no problem to book the tea party.

Thank you for posting the information! If it wasn't for this board we'd have missed this "Grand" event!

All dates are sold out!

Honeychild ~ DW is dressing "quite smart" (but no hat!) DD has her best dress all picked out ready. They're both a little excited :hyper:

Sounds wonderful, but I'll have to agree, wow on the price!

I understand they are going after a certain "market", but I really hate it when they involve kids. I see a lot of heartbroken little girls who's parents just can't afford this luxury.....

Maybe they'll keep it and offer another more "toned down" version for others........

Very rapid sellout of this item means success for Disney. Therefore it is unlikely they will tone it down(lower cost) when there are many who are willing to pay the high price.

Eh. I know what you mean, but I would argue the "toned down" version exists in either the Wonderland Tea Party or the any of the princess character meals.

I couldn't afford it for my dd -- not sure I would even do it if we could afford it, but that's just us. (What does "afford" mean anyway?-- whatever it is worth it for you to spend your money on.) But in any case, most kids will never know this exists if you don't tell them, so if you want them to feel bad about not going, just don't tell them.

If I had a daughter (my DS would NOT appreciate this :) ), I would be tempted to do this. However, the cost is much more than I would be willing to pay when you can have a wonderful afternoon in the GF tea room for a lot less $$.

I have two friends who take their daughters to afternoon tea at the GF at least once a year. The girls love dressing up and being "little ladies" for the afternoon. There is a "Mrs. Pott's Tea" on the menu that includes chocolate milk in a little tea pot. It is adorable to watch the little ones pour their own tea and eat their little PB& J tea sandwiches. A mommy and daughter could spend a lovely afternoon there for well under $50. Sure, you wouldn't get the princess character greetings and all the "extras" that the $200 package offers, but you would have a wonderful afternoon with priceless memories.

My friend has 2 girls and 2 boys. On their yearly trip to Disney they plan one afternoon where the 2 girls go to tea with mommy and the two boys go horseback riding at Ft. Wilderness with daddy. A great idea! Her kids ususally talk more about that day than any other...even more than visits to the parks.

I LOVE the GF tea room...I even had my bridesmaids "luncheon" there when I got married. It is a wonderful, relaxing way to spend an afternoon. I finally dragged my hubby there last year after promising him strawberries & cream and he freely admitted that he thoroughly enjoyed it. :D

I think the price sounds reasonable. You're getting brunch for two, dessert, tax and tip included, a doll that is probably a special collector addition, a braclet, character interaction, and a special gift. Think about what you pay for the Hoop Dee Doo Review or the Luau, and in those two examples you aren't even getting gifts.

While I don't normally pay $200 for a "day out with the girls" I did not find this unreasonable. This is a special occasion (my dd is turning 6) and I want her to be exposed to the many different types of dining (I live in a tiny rural town where our restraunts are an Applebys and a Cracker Barrel).

While it is very important to me that she learn the value of a dollar (yes, she'll be told that this is rare, as well as special) I also want her to learn how a lady dresses and presents herself, all while having a good time!). This will also be a chance to "show off" the table etiquette her grandmother has been teaching her.

I'm sure it will be lovely and I hope all the "princesses" have a wonderful time. I'll write a report when we get back.

I panicked last night when I read that they were all sold out, because my DH had just agreed that I could go and take our DD who is 12 and will be turning 13 in December. I decided to go ahead and call today anyway, and I'm glad I did, because I booked it for Oct. 25 with no problems. So if you're interested, call and see.

Praise2Him, I'm glad that you were able to book the event for your family. The other day I was on the phone with Event Services. I asked them if the new event was popular, and they told me that it was quickly filling up. Since I see that the event is still listed on the Disney Gallery website, and Event Services is very good about updating that website to reflect sell-outs, I take that as a good sign that there is still availability for most of the dates.

For those of you attending the tea party, what is your dd wearing? A princess costume? A party dress, summer or fall? Something else? My sister is stressing me over this and I promised I'd ask. Thanks!

DD is wearing a new dress (summer sleeveless) and DW is wearing cropped trousers and a linen shirt (apparently!!):teeth:

I wanted to buy a princess costume for my daughter to wear, but she said that she wanted to wear a dress instead. Since she has just gone through a growth spurt (for the millionth time it seems), I will have to take her shopping to get something to wear. She'll be looking for something bright and cheerful. (I wish it were still summer as I fear the new winter clothing will be too dark & dreary, ~sigh.~)

We just got back from 6 days at Disney World, and I can't believe that DD and I will be back there in just 2 weeks! (Sssh, it's a surprise for her!) Anyway, the attire question is problematic for us. We have new matching fall dresses, but they seem too dark and hot for a Princess brunch. She'd love a princess costume, but at 12 years old they don't fit anymore. I plan on going shopping this week and looking for something pastel-ish (she loves pink), but don't know about finding fall dresses in those colors. We'll probably end up in matching or coordinating dresses.

As I posted earlier, my sister and I are having a terrible time trying to decide what our dds will wear. We've decided to wear spring colors too.

For those of you looking for something that is a pastel trying looking on www.storybookonline.com. Look under sale. They have a great deal of summer stock left and they are reduced.
