For those of you planning WDW vacations during the end of October or first two days of November, there is a new children’s event to consider. You already know about the Grand Floridian Resort’s Grand Adventures in Cooking Class, the Wonderland Tea Party, and the Pirate Cruise. Well, you can now add the “My Disney Girl Princess Grand Tea Party” to your list. (Note: This event is in a pilot-program for now.)

For the past week or two, the Disney Gallery website has hinted of this event. Well, they finally updated their website and released real information about it. This event reminds me somewhat of an American Girl lunch that I attended in Chicago with my daughter, my sister’s family, and my parents. We had such fun at that event, but the Disney event sounds even better.

This five-part party is led by a professional actress/singer, named Miss Rose Petal, and culminates in a "dream come true" experience with a personal meeting with Princess Aurora, Disney's Sleeping Beauty. The Princess Tea also includes tea and brunch for two, a Princess dream dessert for all guests, a My Disney Girl doll, elegantly dressed in her Sleeping Beauty's gown, to keep and play with forever, a princess bracelet, special "gift" for our adult guests, and a very own "Best Friend" certificate so our little Princesses can name their My Disney Girl doll as their best friend for life.

By the way, I am sure boys will be welcomed with open arms to this new event. My husband will be attending it with our daughter, and he is certain that he will not feel out of place (just as my nephew and Dad did not feel out of place at the American Girl lunch party).

Sounds wondeful, but "yikes" ... a pretty high price tag, my dd's annual pass costs less than that and what a bummer, we'll be there on the 1st and 2nd of November, but with 3 APs to buy this trip I don't think we'll be able to squeeze that kinda cash out of our budget.

Be sure to give us a follow up on it! ENJOY!

At first I thought it was $200.00 per person... that is pretty steep.. but it is actually for the couple (adult/child)

I think I would try it ~ but I would love to read reviews.. it will be interesting to see if it survives the test period and becomes a permanent event.

Wow, this does sound like fun ... just wish the doll wasn't included and the cost lowered.

I'm taking my granddaughter to the American Girl Place in NYC (opens 11/08) for her 7th b'day (11/07) ... she'll be getting an AG doll there, so we won't need another 18" doll (I have tried to limit the number of baby dolls she has and have been pretty successful.)

Thanks for the great info! I hope they offer the event on our next trip!

I wish this was during our trip! I'm already planning on going for tea. This would make it even better. Once they run the test and determine if there is a demand for something like this, how long does it take to put it into place?

Jwfla422, I agree, it sounds wonderful and it sounds pricey. I’m just thankful that I only have one child who will be vacationing with me. By the way, I completely feel your pain about purchasing/renewing AP’s – I’m in the same boat as you (ouch times three).

>>^..^<<, it will be interesting to see what form it survives in. The new Grand Gatherings program also has some very unique events that may be planned for groups of eight or more people. I’m trying to figure out if Disney is bringing all these new programs forward in order to provide their returning guests with something unique to try on their next WDW vacation.

Memaw2Wm, have fun at your granddaughter’s birthday party at the American Girl Place. Make sure to take lots of photos. It really is a fun event.

MJS, I hope they offer the new tea party during your upcoming trip, too.

Honeychild, like you, my family was planning on attending tea in the Garden View Lounge (we have never done so). This event will now take its place for us. I, too, am curious about how Disney determines whether or not to turn a pilot program into a regularly scheduled event. Hopefully someone here on the Dis can give us a good answer to your question.

Yikes! My credit card just had a heart attack! I think I'll just go order to AG dolls......

But the idea sounds lovely!

How awesome! My DD already has 2 of the My Disney Girl Dolls and they are fantastic, so she also really doesn't need another, although she loves the ones that she has. She also has about every costume made from the Disney Store doll and several from the WDW doll as well.

If this works, I may have to think about it for her birthday, though!

Wow !! Its my DD's birthday and she'd LOVE this !

Not sure the credit card can run to it though

Janet,

Thanks for the information!
Oooch it is expensive but it sounds like they are pulling out all the stops so it may well be worth it.

I know you mean well but no amount of reassurance can make boys feel welcome at an event called "My Disney Girl Princess Grand Tea Party". And this from a father who is dying to go to the Afternoon Tea at GF!

I am thrilled that I got our two boys a PS for the Pirate Cruise this year. I hope Disney/GF will give some thought to other events either aimed at boys or gender-neutral. In the meanwhile I hope everyone has a great time at this event.

I read about this yesterday and my first thought was that I wished they had the doll as "optional". You could buy a doll there OR bring your own. If it goes long term, I hope they have the option as it would bring the price down AND we have AG dolls(and Disney Princess outfits for her), My Twinn doll, etc already. It does sound precious though, and DD would love it.

Wow, sounds like they are really going after the luxury market... interesting. Not really the kind of thing our family would do, but I'll be interested to hear from those who try it.

Thank you so much for the info! I have just booked DW and DD to attend as a special treat on the 23rd October. DD turns 7 that week and it will be a birthday surprise for her. DW will do a full report on our return!

Alec :earsboy:

Is this doll like the Mindy doll sold at Disney Stores?? It was only a $25.00 doll, so $200.00 does seem a little pricey since you are only getting dessert??? I agree the doll should be optional, but then all the girls would have to have one anyway. My DD isn't into the princesses much anymore. It sounds like fun though! Guess I'll stick with Pal Mickey!

I believe, if I read the post correctly, that brunch is also included.

I just called Disney to find our more info. The CM had to go look up the info and came back about 10 minutes later. She said this is offered to concierge guests only. I hope that if it is a success it will be offered to everyone. I would love to participate but we are not staying concierge. Did anyone else hear this from a CM?

Well I was going to say that I would miss it as our last day is Oct. 23. Now that concierge has entered into it I would have missed it anyway as we are staying at the Poly non concierge. We are going back in May at the Poly staying concierge though. Hopefully it will still be around as my 4 y/o dd would love it! Did the CM say it was for GF concierge or all concierge?
