New Cat Cora Restaurant (replacing Spoodles)

I'm going to miss Spoodles too. My DH and I always go there for breakfast because there really aren't that many TS options in the area. We don't do character breakfasts any more (our children are in their 20s) and we didn't like Captains Grille (hopefully it has improved since last time we dined there). We have breakfast at Spoodles every morning when at WDW.

I am looking forward to Cat Cora's restaurant and I plan on making an ADR for our trip in December 09. Even though I think Cat Cora's restaurant will be great, I will still miss our breakfasts at Spoodles.

Not trying to hijack your thread, but when does this Cat Coras open? I love greek food and think it would be a lovely addition to WDW.

Never was a big Spoodles fan - always ended up at ESPN if I was in that neighborhood.

It is going to be practically the same isn't it? Wasn't Spoodles Mediterranean? Greek is mediterranean...with a couple of other countries thrown in. I have seen Cora cook, and it is all Mediterranean, not just Greek. She has lots of Greek influence, but I have seen her mix up a few different cuisines from the surrounding areas to make them her own.

I, for one, I am pretty excited about it. Yeah, it sucks that Spoodles is closing (and I hope to get to eat there at least once before it does), but Disney is looking ahead to the future and maybe this is one of those things where they realize the draw of a celebrity chef restaurant.

Near our house, 4 restaurants have closed and been replaced by Greek eateries. All within 2 miles of each other.

And now Spoodles.

Call me nostalgic, but I'm going to miss Spoodles. Our family has had many wonderful meals there.

But, as all things seem to eventually change, Cat Cora is going to turn it into a Greek restaurant named Kouzzina.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't care for Greek cuisine

Will anyone else miss Spoodles?

I haven't noticed any Greek trend by us...yet. I can appreciate all types of cuisine, although I can't say I'd wind up wanting to eat at Kouzzina on each Disney trip, unless it is just totally mindblowing. Cat Cora doesn't do anything for me one way or the other, so that wouldn't be a draw for us. I will miss Spoodles too, but I guess change is inevitable.

Well my husband just told me that Spoodles will be closing and I was wondering when will it's final day be. We were planning on bringing our friends there in May and I can't tell you how disappointed I will be if they are closed by then.

I just booked for our trip in June (21st) and the reservationist did not say anything about it closing!

I'm booked on June 26th and the concierge CM said that they hadn't told the CMs making ADRs when to stop booking it yet.

The rumor I've been seeing is that Spoodles closes September 30.

I'm really bummed, actually, we had hoped that Kouzzina (which is replacing Spoodles) would be open when we are there in September. We love Cat Cora on the Food Network!

Spoodles is definitely closing, but the date has not been announced officially. the September 30 is a rumor.

I thought it was closing as Spoodles, but will reopen:

"Cat Cora to open eatery to replace Spoodles restaurant at the Boardwalk Resort. The restaurant will be called Kouzzina by Cat Cora and will feature Mediterranean cuisine. Cora has been a featured chef at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and at Disney’s California Food & Wine Festival at Disneyland Resort."

I think Cat has also been on Iron Chef. This could be a fun and swanky new addition to the Disney line up.
