HEY GUYS

*warning, long read*

ok, . . so i'm not gong to lie, . . I have been stalking you guys! HAHA. I have been coming frequently to DISboards for the last few months, . . . . and i didn't want to join b/c i wonder if i'll come back after my disney trip (June 1-8th). But then i realize, where else in the world am i going to find more people that enjoy and love disney as much as i do (other than my sister, who has the amazing ability to remain calm even though inside she's probably exploding with joy). Therefore, i decided to join the forums and come back whenever i feel like it, just to share some disney joy.

Let me talk a bit about myself.
I was born in Hong Kong but moved to canada when i was about 6 years old. First, my family and i lived in Calgary. But the extreme weather and the inconvenience of living out in the plains drove my parents to move to Vancouver, . and then to Richmond (below vancouver). I have now been in Canada for nearly 15 years now!! I am currently 21 years old and just this past wednesday, i graduated from the University of British Columbia with a B.A In English language. Going to go back next year to do B. of Education.

SO why do i like disney??
If u read my profile, you'll already know a bit of this. When we first immigrated, my parents worked really hard to make a life for us here. hah Sounds like a typical corny immigrant story but that's what it is. My dad is not a very social person and he's not good with kids AT ALL. He's very rough on us b/c he wants us to succeed. I dont' want to make him sound crazy but hes' just not the warm type of dad who hugs it out with their kids every night and tucks them in.

So, . . how does this link to Disney? Well, . . Disney was the only way for my family to get together. Only when i was older did i realize that even though my father was leading a very hectic lifestyle, his fatherly side still found the time to indulge my sisters and i in the many different disney classics. He'd take us out to rent them and take us home to watch them. This instilled such good feelings in me that i basically, . . get nostalgic everytime i watch movies. Not to mention that disney music is AWESOME. My dad then started disney collection and FINALLY, in my grade 5 year, we went on a family vacation to DISNEYLAND. Best time of my life. Sadly, . . . that was also our last family vacation b/c shortly after that, they opened a store and have been MAJOR workacholics since then. I also went to disney on my High school Grad with 1 best friend, 1 exchange best friend, and 1 grl that totally didn't fit in. BUt we still had a blast. IN 1 WEEK, i am going to disneyworld for the first time with my 3 best friends foro ur University grad. WE've been friends for 11 years now, . . . . and i am MAJORLY excited!!

As you can see, . . i have 1 disney trip almost every 5 years. that's not good

Anything and everything disney makes me want to cry. I have all the disney music, . including fantasmic ending. And many times, i like to copy mickey's dance moves from fantasmic - that is truly, . the most amazing show and i get chills reliving it on youtube!!

I want to get married there
I want to take my kids there when i grow up
and maybe in the future, . . when my parents are retired, i can take them for another fun filled disney vacation.

Sorry for the long read, . . . you'll be getting that a lot from me b/c i tend to have TYPING diarrhea!:lmao:

I love it :) thanks for sharing your story. we're completly across the country from eachother, but i feel your warmth from your story. our parents are from different generations, and only once we are older do we really realize they love they actually have shown us over the years. so enjoy your trip!! and DEF bring your folks back to Disney upon retirement!

oh, and check out the Canadian board, it can be quite helpful!:yay:

Welcome to the boards! It's definitely a nice escape for when you can't get to Disney or when your planning your trip! :jumping1:

It looks like you need a welcome from Toronto too - so WELCOME!!!!!

Once you join it is hard to leave - as stated somewhere on these boards it is a cult.

It is also a good addiction. DIS and diet Coke keep me going :)

wow, i can't believe that there are so many friendly people paying attention to my post lol, . . . to be honest, i felt kinda dumb sharing my why disney is so special to me but i'm really happy i did

Disney means the world to me, . . and to most of the people who lives in and around my life, thinks that i'm being sooooo unrealistic. I seriously only have 1 other friend who knows disney like i do, . but even then, she only specializes in MULAN haha

But disney brings up emotions in me EASILY, . . again, to be honest, . . disney brings tears to my eyes EASILY. i can't wait to have kids and have them experience the same joy that disney has brought to me haha, but i'm 21, . long way from family and kids~~

:welcome: to the DIS!

Your story is beautiful and really not very different than what many around here have experienced. That is part of the magic that brings us all together here. I am so glad you shared it with us. Please feel free to ask all the questions you may have, and to answer any that you can! You will have a great time at WDW. Just remember to stop and smell the roses and experience the pixie dust. There is so much there to see and do that you just have to remember that you WILL come back again to see more.

I would love to hear more about your plans! Where are you all staying? Do you have any meals planned? Are you going to all the parks?
