New BWV through DVC?

I heard that DVC may be offering BWV points to NEW potential members who, for whatever reason, aren't interested in SSR. (Like they read these boards and adhere to the "buy where you want to stay" advice. LOL!) Maybe that's why they're exercising the ROFR so much lately.
Anyway, what might be the pros and cons of Buying through DVC. I know a "con" is that for 150 point contract, you'd probably pay $1000 +/- more. But it would be a much less stressful and quicker closing, plus you probably would not end up with a "stripped" contract. Any other thoughts?

If you buy through Disney, you can make a reservation as soon as they have your deposit and you sign the papers.

Also, Disney will finance a purchase made directly from them. If you go resale, you pay cash or arrange for your own financing.

Disney will also give you a gift or two for the purchase (which is not a reason to go through them, but it's a nice extra).

FWIW, I'm not convinced that you would necessarily pay $1000 or more to go through Disney. Disney pays closing costs - usually the buyer is expected to pay those and does in most resales. Closing costs can add several dollars per point to the smaller contracts.

This is very interesting. I wonder if these BWV contracts would be for 50 years like the SSR? DH and I are seriously considering our first DVC purchase, but we are not really interested in SSR. Maybe this could be a good choice for us?

The only way you can buy BWV from Disney is as a add on. Meaning if you already own a DVC contract.

I don't know if you can get BWV as a new DVC member directly from DVC, but it's worth a try. I can't see them saying no, since it would be a sale. You might have to wait a while, since they don't have much, if any, BWV inventory on hand. The price is $89 per point, and then you would have 38 years left, not 50 like SSR. We just added on 150 points at BWV through DVC, so it can be done, just call and ask.
