New bully behavior

High school kids have always been jerks

I found middle school kids to be worse.

Anyone remember MySpace with the circle of favorites? And the blogs? Or AIM and your away message? And yes slam books were around even when I was growing up with notebooks passed around. Or just notes themselves.

Stuff like this has been going on for years. Different platform same drama. I won't argue that some behavior has gotten worse, it's just not 'new bully behavior'.

Its drastically worse than a Burn book as the kid is holding the device and it reamains there for them to see everytime they open their phone.
There were two times I heard of parents bringing in lawyers.. over the same situation my child was going through. I am sure this is gonna happen more and more.
Also kids are somewhat wise to not mention names and be vague enough to not be identifying the girl, yet if you are close enough you know whom they are talking about.

Thats was why i started getting daughter into other social medias, because she has phone in hand all time and wanted her to know there are there are other social media outlets. I think it allowed her to not have it as hard.

Being selected to be in someone's favorites was akin to a social hierarchy and it was visible for all to see..if you were suddenly not in that favorite..usually something was up. I was more just trying to say there's been stuff in the past used to trash talk or pseudo rate someone that was available for all to see. I would say the behavior isn't new but the breadth of the audience (as so many have technology when it was not as prevalent when I was growing up) may make the behavior worse.

I know you mentioned Goodreads..that's my book site I use to keep track of all the books I read and want to read. I however don't really use it for the social part but I can see how it can be good for that.

I self publish books so I had knowledge of it. And though aside from a very occasional vicious reviewer, the people on the site like here are really good hearted. She's a big Harry potter fan so she joined a couple of groups with that and it at least gave her another outlet on her phone.
