New Board Feature- tags

We are trying something new from the folks at Boardtracker. If you start a new thread you will see an option to "specify tags".
If you look at search you will see an option to "search tags"
This will help pull out the main topic of a thread and make it easy to fine. We are also going to be doing some other stuff with this like "Tag Clouds". What is a tag cloud? Stay tuned!
Please note this is only working in the orlando blue style right now but we will expand it

Not sure if I understand this. When you start a thread, if you opt for tags, then your topic will be easier to find, for everyone? Or just the thread starter? So, this is an option the OP has to choose when starting a thread for it to come up in this new search feature?

I believe it has nothing to do with the colorful messages applied by that mysterious entity.

I think I have it, which is incredible since I run slow in the morning... We can basically put little "Post-it note" tags on key words in our posts, so they can be searched for easier. So if we are posting about vacationing in the Poconos (first thing that popped into my head--I'm weird ), we can tag Poconos and then that thread would be easier to find in a search.

Do I have it?

I'm thinking the post it note concept sounds like it - thanks for the explanation Tigger&Belle... (Poconos huh? ) it has been difficult at best using the Search function -

(now what would the Jack Sparrow thread be "tagged" with?? Oh this opens so many possibilities... )

Don't ask me why I came up with the Poconos. Never been and no real desire.

Remember, the tags have to be DIS friendly!

And how is this really going to work, whenever I try to do a search now on the forums, 90% of the time the search thingy isn't working, so will this work?

This new feature will use the key words you put in the "tag" of your post when search is used. So if you put in say "Pluto" you post will be found easier, more specific in the search when people search "Pluto."

I've been to the Poconos too. We were stalked by a family of racoons.

Racoons kept getting into our trash cans when we were there. One night, when we heard the cans rattling, my dh stepped out on the back step, aimed the camera toward the cans (it was pitch black, couldn't see a thing) and snapped off a picture of the little buggers. When we got home we had the roll of film developed and were quite surprised to see a skunk and not a racoon rifling through the trash.

My dh was one lucky man that night.
