New BLT Rumors--PART II

I liked the wings - they were definitely quieter - more relaxed - less we MUST be doing something - like in the tower.

I liked the wings too. CR was our 1st deluxe and the rooms were HUGE! There was something decadent about having that daybed.

We stayed in the South wing in '94 and the sci-fi decor was still in good shape. We stayed in the North wing in '02 and the room was not in great shape, but we were right next to the bus stop, and still convenient to the monorail.

I never had a good view of anything at Disney until I bought DVC. The parking lot at CR wasn't any worse than the side of a building view I paid a premium for at WL, and not much worse than the parking lot view at POR.

I thought the wings were/are nice.......I've rarely had a view at Disney that I didn't like but this was one of my favorites!

not a rumour, call it a figment;) of my imagination...just throwing something out there that might appeal to a different target audience
What if the points for BLT were set @ $200 a point:idea: , with an exclusive length of stay FOTL perc (think Loews @ Universal) to all persons on any ressie made with BLT points?

Do u think it would sell? Imagine, a mere 25 point add-on @ $5000 w/banking & borrowing could = studio & FOTL once every 2 to 3 years; tempting stuffpopcorn::

I doubt they would ever do this as it would be a nightmare to manage.

I think the price will be as high as reported.

However I think that will allow Disney to give you a HUGE one time only discount of $30 or $40 a point for existing members. That will drive the sales VERY quickly. LOL!

I find the monorail to be one of the most frustrating transportation modes at Disney and the MK is the park I spend the LEAST time in. (My last visit I hit every park BUT MK) As a result, I get to sit this buying frenzy out!

It is hard for me to believe they would set the price this high in the economy we are currently in. BLT will appeal only to us park fiends. While I don't care too much for the CR theme......DH does and I love the monorail resorts. I won't buy unless the PP is below $120. I love BCV and BWV and will be happy to stay there for that price difference.

I still could see high pricing happening.

Back in 2001-2002 (another period when the economy wasn't great and people were questioning the long-term feasibility of air transportation) BCV sold out in a then-record 13 months at approx $85 per point.

By all accounts, BLT is less than 50% larger than BCV. Not exactly a huge property. And while it resort may only appeal to "park fiends", it's not like we need millions in that group to sell the resort. If we assume that the point charts will be comparable to BCV and an average contract is roughly 200 points, BLT will only have 25,000 owners.

Given that Disney only has ONE CHANCE in the next 50 years to sell this property, I don't see why they would short-change themselves. Seems silly to price low and set some sort of sales record rather than pushing the envelope with pricing and taking a bit longer to sell. While the pricing may not be as high as some reports, you can't tell me there aren't 25,000 people in the world who could be convinced to buy at BLT even with higher pricing and a struggling US economy.

Higher pricing also carries the benefit of stretching-out sales to a point when the economy is likely to have improved. $140 per point will certainly lead to slower sales initially, but it also means there will still be points available in 2009 and 2010 when the economy may well be in full rebound mode. That could position DVC to reduce the incentives and perhaps raise the asking price even higher.

Throwing out another idea here -- maybe these will be designed to compete with the Four Seasons residences that will be opening soon. $180/pt will probably still be far less than the pricing of fractional ownership at the Four Seasons (prices usually much higher than DVC). It may be a move to appeal to a new owner -- while the location is ideal for MK and very close to Epcot a "new" base of owner would be the golfer/tennis player/spa goer. Other DVC's offer these amenities but this area would give you parks and the "pluses".

They can keep it if it's setup like that. It's not like it's the only place to stay near MK or the monorail. There are other options in that area that would be just as nice for less $$.

I never have been a fan of the Comtemporary... While I always am looking to add on I would take a pass on BLT, regardless of incentives...

Not to mention that Disney unlike other some other Time Share operators does a good job in "selling" those unsold villas as regular rooms.

WHen I go on Marriott.com to book a room I have to "WORK" to get the vacation club options. With Disney they just show up and CR seems to book well from what I hear.

So.... while the guides might want it to be priced for quick sale it might not be in the best overall interest of Disney to sell it lower then they want because of the economy. The threads about "no rooms" over on the resorts board lead me to believe folks are still booking!

Hey Everybody:

Here's a new rumor...the NEW BLT is Marriott.

The new thingy on top is just like the thingy on top at our brand new Marriott in Montgomery, Alabama.

Here is the link to the Montgomery Marriott Renaissance hotel.

BTW, that place is swanky. Dh and I dropped $100 on Valentine's Day without alcohol. That can be difficult to do in Montgomery, Alabama.

I think the idea is wacked, but 2 things to keep in mind...

1) There have been rumors that DVC would merge with Marriott.
2) That would also help explain all the paperwork being out there and Disney saying nothing.

That feature has been part of the building design dating back nearly 2 years to concept artwork leaked on the Internet:

If Disney had an agreement to merge with Marriott, they wouldn't have kept it quiet this long.

And the two designs don't look all that similar, IMO.

Kinda stretching the definition of "rumor" here, aren't we? popcorn::

Oh the twists and turns this story takes........its better than a John Grisham novel:rotfl2:

New rumor..the "thingy" is a helipad that will serve as a private station to bring BLT DVCers directly from MCO to Disney by helicopter. :rotfl2:

The more outrageous rumors I hear about BLT, the more it makes me NOT want to buy it.

Anyone else feel that way?

Give me a break. It's not the only place near MK.:sad2:

Sorry...I'm just venting.

I find it all very entertaining....or course I have no interest in owning there either :rotfl:

OK perhaps speculation is a bit more accurate. I knew I went out on a limb reporting this, but did so because I thought it could be an important link to the information. Notice, I did say I thought the idea was a little wacked.

With the shoe on the other foot..what IF it did turn out to be Marriott and I KNEW for Months about the similarities. How would all you dissers feel if I kept you in the dark? Hmmm.... I put it out there for discussion.

I'm sorry to the DISSER who is also now fed up with the rumor mill because of this speculation.

:rotfl2:

However, since Marriot KNOWS how to run hotels and Disney thinks "all you do to call yourself Deluxe is raise prices" I would be glad to see it....
