A big criticism Disney fans have towards Universal is that the park down the street has nothing interesting enough to make them want to make the trip across town. Yes, Universal Orlando is known for thrill rides and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but there is a lot more happening at the resort than just those two things. A lot of attractions at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are very similar to attractions at Walt Disney World, but there are differences, which sometimes make Universal rides potentially better and should warrant a trip to the competition. Here is our list of what to try at Universal Orlando based on select rides at Walt Disney World.

Thank you!

Great info for a Universal newbie and Dis vet like myself/family. :thumbsup2

Making our third trip to Universal in December -- been to WDW 6 times. We love them both. Universal has a much easier maneuverability than Disney -- no wait to transportation if you stay on site -- everything is within walking distance and we love that. And their dining reservations are a BREEZE compared to Disney's :) Love the fact that if you stay on site, you get fast pass entries into attractions and rides, too. And trust me -- the Blues Brothers show is worth the whole price of admission :cool1: Also feel that their movie star impersonators are better and more in number than those at Hollywood Studios.

Great blog.
Popeys is probably the best water ride I have ever been on. Kali always leaves me feeling disappointed. Also the Kali area always seems to smell funny lol.

I'm sure someone could make the argument that Toy Story is at least as entertaining as MIB, but MIB blows Buzz Lightyear out of the water, that's not even close.

On a family trip to Disney, we did a day at Islands of Adventure. My son told his mother-in-law, who had never been there, that Harry Potter's Forbidden Journey was "just like Peter Pan." She didn't speak to him for three days after doing the ride. This blog could have been very helpful to her...

Good blog, I would add a few more to the list:

Like Mad Hatter's Tea Party? Try Storm Force Accelatron

Like Dinosaur? Try Spiderman or Transformers (intensity level is similar IMO)

Like PhilharMagic or Muppets? Try Shrek 4D

Like Catastrophe Canyon? Try Disaster!

Like Flights of Wonder? Try Animal Actors Stage

Like Expedition:Everest? Try Revenge of the Mummy

Oh, my, that poor woman :crazy2: My daughter was 26 when she rode it and hated it and came off the ride a rather gray/green color LOL. My DH and I just did the wonderful tour of the castle and then took the chicken exit out (we're not big on these types of rides :lmao:
