new blog: Disney MagicBand Styles Begin to Surface

Now if your ticket is on the band how to you access the current fast pass machines?

I like the look of the bands as long as I don't get a heat rash at the band site. I am not use to the humidity.

MagicBands will serve as your ticket, room key, Fast Pass, etc.

RFID-encoded tickets will work in the same way.

Everything will be "touch to access."

It seems like they would have options even for the standard bands- I mean so that you could have a different color for each person in the family. Otherwise there will be lots of confusion and many backups at the turnstiles every day...

Hopefully some of the standard options will have pictures, not just different colors...

Am I the only one that this is all old news for? We've had some of the pictures for over a month. Some of them for almost a year.

That's what I was thinking

The pictures are older, however I'm fairly sure it's news that their may be keyrings and other things aside from the bracelets.

Also, not everyone follows it like a religion... :thumbsup2

Does anyone know if these stay on like those hospital bands or are they removable at will? I can not see a child with sensory issues wearing one 24/7 on vacation.

You can't access the current machines with a magic band.

The pictures are old, but some of the info about the options is newer.

They aren't like hospital bands, at all. They can be removed and replaced.

If our kids won't wear theirs, then I will likely just attach them to the park bag.

So what type of data is exactly stored on these RFID bands (survelliance collars)? All you need is an RFID reader to read what is on them just like people in airports who brush up against you to scan your credit card.

The only data on the bands is a unique number that identifies the band. This number is used to link to your profile in Disney's internal system.

Yep. :thumbsup2

The only info that could be scanned is a number that means nothing to any system except Disney servers.

I'll go ahead and give you mine: 37468DA7773977EF. Please don't abuse it.

The article mentions that they are removable and readjustable.

Not many pictures have surfaced regarding the styles available. However, the one showing the character styles is something that only recently surfaced. Similarly, the news of the different options is something worth mentioning again. There will apparently be watches, key chains, and more. :)

Is it just me or does anyone else find the idea of paying more to personalize your bracelet just a little bit disgusting??

I just payed a little over a thousand dollars for 5 adult base MYW tickets. No hopping, no water parks, no nothing. The fact that my 10 and 12 year old kids are considered adults by Disney is ridiculous to begin with. Now some bean counter at corporate decides to offer different styles so they can make back the money invested in the new system.

I don't recall ever saying "gee this card in my pocket is so inconvenient". OK I'm done ranting now, I'm going back to my happy place of planning for our next trip.

I am with you. Unless this is forced upon me, I will simply say no thank you. I will continue to do things the way I do today. I have no issues with change, but this is all pretty dumb IMO.

Explain to me what these are please. We are AP holders for both parks and I think I've spent more time at Disneyland and I'm behind.

I believe the link in the original post explains them.

I don't find it disgusting. I'm not offended that Apple sells me a decorative case after I pay them for my iPhone. Why should I be offended that Disney does the same?

I think the Magic Band has a lot of potential but I'm containing my excitement until I know more about how it will really function.

I agree with several PPs - let's get this show on the road! I'm tired of all the speculation; I want to see how it will really work.

And I want plenty of time for it all to shake out before our vacation in January! ;)

I just keep thinking 'tag and release' program, like we're wildlife and Disney is the park ranger.

I am staying at the Boardwalk next month. Interesting that some guest there will be using them. I wonder...
