new blog: A Walk around the "World": Blizzard Beach

Awesome! It's not often we get to see photos like these of the water parks.

great blog!!

i didn't know about the polar patios!! very cool!!

one of our must dos at BB? a sno-cone before we leave the park...yummmmm!! (no sno-cones in israel... :sad1: )...

I also enjoyed the post and look forward to more in the series. It isn't that I plan on ever going to BB (I usually only go in December) but I just enjoyed the way your blog showed the area.

we love BB and TL but i didn't go this time.....i couln't see going on my own...i enjoyed solo visits to the theme parks, but swimming is a group activity for me (except back in my lifeguarding days many many many many many many years ago....many)....

one thing that brings BB to mind for us - wherever we are, whenever we encounter a lot of stairs, we all always say the same thing "oh oh...where's my inner tube...now i'm going to have to go all the way back down"...

so this is how we visit BB: arrive before opening...as soon as the park opens, rent a locker to get rid of all our stuff and head for the rope...
at rope drop we race straight to the back of the park (do not pass go, do not collect $200)...
first stop: downhill double dipper, which we ride 3 times..

then on to our second stop: Runoff Rapids...first grab a tube at the bottom and begin running up the stairs..which quickly turns into a walk,,,which eventually turns into huffing puffing up the stairs as we begin to wonder how many people have heart attacks on the way up...
at the top we head for the closed slide first...which will start to have a line before the other two...better to take advantage of the lack of line now..

so we scream our way through the closed tube....spash down...get out of the water and head back up the stairs for a second run...
by this point, i've already slowed down to a trudge up the steps while the kids are still racing up.....they usually make it to the top before i make it halfway....in other words, they'll slide down and get back to the top for their 3rd ride when i'm just reaching the top for my 2nd..

anyway....we ride for another 3 or 4 times, until we're totally exhausted from those stairs and backtrack to the tobaggon racer....we make sure we're all in the same run and race each other down...
after one ride on the toboggan we head for two rides on teamboat springs...

and then finally we head for the lazy river.....after 3 or 4 times around, we've had enough.....head back to our lockers to get our stuff (car keys etc) and get ready to go..

but not before we each get our favorite treat at BB - a sno-cone mmmm...

and then we're on our way...we typically leave by about 11:30 or noon....

our visits to TL are different, where we prefer to spend the last few hours of the day (from about 4 PM until closing)...
at TL we head first for crush and gusher for about 8 or 9 rounds...
then to the wave pool - where we swim into the deep area and ride a few waves....then finally the lazy river where we'll just hang out until they throw us out of the park...by that time of day the lazy river is empty....perfectly peaceful....and the sun isn't beating down....bliss!!

of course, i'm not recommending this plan for others - but since we live 10 minutes from the mediterranean sea, we really don't need to lie out in the sun for the sake of sunworshipping...on the contrary, we typically try to avoid the sun and water in the middle of the day...
so for us, the waterparks are magical for the slides/wavepools/lazy rivers....not for the lounge chairs etc...
if we lived in a colder climate i would certainly plan on spending the entire day at the waterparks - though personally, i prefer TL to BB...but they're both good for a full day - not the way we do it..

concise.............informative................well illustrated.............more please.
