New Aulani members

I have seen some debates on the boards already regarding the number of points they're requiring for stays at Aulani.... Anyone feeling like it's outrageous? I'm OK with it, and like anything else, with proper planning we should be fine. It doesn't seem like we will be heading out there every year anyways, so with the banking and borrowing of points, I don't see a problem.

I also don't see a problem with the point requirements for Aulani. If the rooms were much less expensive, then I fear we would never be able to get a booking. The $ is so devalued in Asia these days, and Disney is pushing Aulani hard in Japan with the dedicated sales office there. I imagine many Japanese who jump into DVC will have much higher point totals than we (personally) could ever afford. Could you imagine if the number of points required per night were much lower? I could see 2-3 week trips being their norm with lower requirements, leaving no time left for all of us who are stateside... especially at the 7 month mark!

Welcome Home Everyone! We just bought on Monday the 5th! We are now proud owners of Aulani! Hoping to get out there opening week, if we can get in. I am super excited as we have never been to Hawaii. When we bought at VGC we told our guide we would be adding on as soon as this was announced, and so we did...... Aloha everyone!

The only problem I saw with the points is that they have thanksgiving as premium when all of hawaii doesn't have that as premium time. That time of year is when I travel and I've never had a black out date issue or premium pricing. It's just frustrating.

I will say that I'm thrilled that the points per day are the same all week long. And I did note that there are many opportunities to go outside of the premium time. Presidents weekend is in the least point time and memorial weekend and some of xmas/thanksgiving are not premium points.

Hey how do you like the new Airbus A330's? They look awesome! I haven't had a chance yet to fly in em yet, and probably won't until next May! You like them better than the old DC-10's?

I flew an A330 from NY to Spain. Super smooth.

I agree about the Thanksgiving time, and sorry that it worked out that way for you. However, to your second point, there are other times when we can book at a much lower point value. Personally, we vacation twice per year. In March, for our Anniversary, DH Birthday, and DS Birthday. They all fall on the 21st and 22nd of March.... And again in September, over Labor Day week for DD Birthday and older DS Birthday, again only one day apart.
One falls during Magic season, and the other during value, so I'm thinking we'll do a 1 bedroom during Value, and a Studio during Magic Season....

I just joined yesterday. Got in on the last day of the cali opening. I'm very excited to return to hawaii for my thanksgivings again. I can't wait to book for next year.

Thanksgiving week is a very busy time for us. Our flights to Hawaii from the weekend prior Thanksgiving till the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is always sold out. It is really busy for the airline industry to Hawaii.
There use to be a slow time during certain time of the year to Hawaii but for our airline it seems to be busy almost everyday.

I went to the DVC retail location at Woodfield mall and signed all of my closing docs on Saturday. Yeah!

We were the first ones to do a closing there.

No Aulani swag though.......

Can't wait for Christmas at AKV this year and Aulani next September.

Very cool. Maybe I'll swing by there to see it when we are down there in December. Never been over at SSR, and the wife has thought about resort hoping on the trip just to see what all the different places are like.

I've never had a problem using my miles for flights. Love my Hawaiian Miles. Best airline to fly over on...just saying!

I have seen those. I was curious about the 1 bedroom twin bed in the living room. I am also very curious about the bathroom and it looks like it is split. I was surprised they did not put in 2 bathrooms since the 1 bedroom sleeps 5 (BLT and AKV's 1 bedrooms have 2 bathrooms.)
