NEW: August 2024: Aulani Adult Only Pool

Sounds like I’ll be one of the few dissenters here. My daughter (DD7) dislikes crowds and noise in general. The Wailana pool was where my daughter first took off her water wings and swam unassisted. She still prefers this pool as it’s less crowded, and more comfortable for her.
Same here. My son (5) preferred the quiet and calm at this pool. I'll be "that guy" and say it... If you're that bothered by kids, don't go to a disney resort. Four seasons will be happy to take your $.

But the Four Seasons unfortunately won’t take people’s DVC points…

We are still in the kiddo phase of life and my 10yr old was a bit bummed about the quiet pool being adult only, but I think it will make the resort better when we are in the kids post-college/pre-grandkids phase of life where my wife and I will be going on our own.

We don’t have any two-legged children by choice. We are not bothered by kids, but we do prefer a calm atmosphere, just like your son. So maybe instead of an adult only pool, there oughta be a quiet pool? I suppose this requires parents to be responsible and not take the attitude that kids will be kids and defeat the purpose of the quiet and calm atmosphere.

Was it working as a quiet pool? I would also be fine with it as a quiet pool if Disney were enforcing it, but a lot of the quiet pools at Disney World become loud pools in the afternoon.

There are no quiet pools at Disney World. That concept is completely made up.

On our most recent visit in July certainly the pool was not quiet. But a quiet pool would certainly be enough for us. But as they can’t enforce a chair policy effectively there is little hope for enforcing quiet.

Not all adults “dislike” kids, but there are times on vacation where I like to go to the pool, relax, swim and not get splashed, hit with a ball, screaming….
To be fair, I have seen plenty of young adults at Aulani who are over 21 and are completely obnoxious.

Also, no hanky panky in the adult hot tub…. it’s gross…. 🤢

I hope when my kids are grown and I'm traveling more frequently without them, I don't become the kind of person who prefers the boring pool.

I don't begrudge anyone who does, but it's not for me. Even without kids, the two feature pools plus lazy river are so much more interesting and fun. Plus I like people-watching.

I know there are frequent Aulani-goers but I'm at about 25 nights total and I've honestly never seen what all the fuss is about when it comes to the chairs. We travel with a big group, usually 8 or more, and we've always had chairs together at all hours of the day.
Yeah, for my wife and I the adult pool feels generic and devoid of any sense of being in Hawaii. So we usually never venture over. But I’ve seen the main pool closed a bunch of times during the day, and though they don’t tell you why, it’s usually because one of Aulani’s younger guests lost a diaper or threw up their lunch. At that point the boring pool starts to look a little better, no?

Re the fuss about the chairs, perhaps you’ve never gone over to the loungers under umbrellas facing the beach in front of Ama Ama at 7:00 in the morning, only to see every chair reserved. It’s a bummer! Luckily the new Casabellas right there can be reserved in advance, and they’re relatively reasonable compared to other resorts at about $103 with DVC discount.
