New attractions and rides 2014

I have repeatedly read on these forums that Micechat is not a reliable source? Also, I can't imagine that they would expect to see the financial results from MBs in 2013--since the rollout isn't complete and had been limited to certain time blocks and resorts? They may be over budget but I really can't imagine that there was an expectation of instant conversion & immediately lucrative results...

Exactly!

Actually, what I and others have repeatedly seen is Al Lutz being exactly on the mark.

He predicted the management shakeup at DVC years ago, while people in these forums were saying everything there was fine. He predicted the delays in the mine train completion, while people in these forums were insisting it was on schedule.

The reality is the negative spin about him you reference comes from people here who don't like the fact he gets behind the scenes and often brings to light issues and problems with Disney that their apostles don't want uncovered. To his credit, he is also quick to praise Disney when it moves in the right direction.

Disney is a public firm that has quarter to quarter financial mindset. The analysts expected Magic+ to be fully implemented by the beginning of Q1 '14. That didn't happen. The rollout has moved slower than expected, due to fact the technology and systems are full of glitches (which the programmers warned management about before the system went live, but management didn't listen). That has forced remedial programming and systems work, which raises expenses. :teacher:

Yes the rollout has moved slower but that means disney is fixing the problems. Fixing the problems now will only make the system better. I would rather have disney take time on this a spend get the problems fixed before they just throw it out there. The whole system isn't fully "live" yet anyways so that comment doesn't even work. The system is as of right now only out in increments which is exactly what Disney Should be doing. I think disney is doing this in the best possible way your not going to find those glitches until you test it. Testing greatly and I mean greatly helped out this new system. The system is not a fail its doing quite well at the moment. Disney wants to get this right and thats what they are doing I couldn't be more pleased with the way disney is handling this. Small increases to the system every month while at the same time they fix the problems that pop up and they fix them quick no major problems still exist. The my disney experience app is being updated all the time and so is the website that means they know there are problems and they are fixing them right away. Until disney has the system fully implemented to every guest that steps on property that chooses to use it they will not find out if its a fail. If disney does not see any decreases in revenue there is no fail. Simple as that.

They should build more roller coaster rides and put back the scary witch ride.

They are not going to build roller coasters without theming. They are building a roller coaster right now in a "mine" with Snow White theming. They also like to build roller coasters in mountains. Disney does not like to have a lot of visible track hence they have no coaster that looks like one at six flags they will never have one like that. The magic behind disney is there is always a story behind it.

MK is pretty much tapped out in both land and need. Two big coasters, two family coasters, a flume ride, a bunch of dark rides that are great (Peter Pan, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World, Buzz), and some really good shows/experiences.

AK will be getting much needed help when Pandora is done, and will be a nighttime park as well.

Epcot could use some upgrades and reopenings, but I don't think there is much wrong with that park. It's a great park, and very unique.

DHS obviously needs a backside makeover, and I think Star Wars is the logical move there. It would certainly draw things away from the ToT/RnRC and TSMM side of the park. I'd expect an E-ticket and a family ride or two along with upgraded/unique experiences related to Star Wars. That park could really use a spinner ride as well, and I think one would come with Star Wars.

I agree DHS is really the biggest park in need of new things AK will be fine once pandora is done and eventually probably 10 or so years from now Epcot will get something new.

I think DHS is the park with the most possibility because of the theming, there are so many movies Disney they could tap into. I think more Star Wars ride/a themed area has to come and also a Carsland like in DLR.

Any chance Disney announces new Star Wars related plans for lands and/or rides during Star Wars weekends later this year? Seems like perfect timing.

I would LOVE to see Carsland come to DHS! Most definitely would rather see that than Star Wars.

I personally think we may see an announcement that coincides with the park's 25th anniversary as someone else said whether that be Star Wars or Carsland.

I agree I think the 25th would be a great time for Disney to announce something.

I don't know for sure when it will open but I can guarantee it will not be before February. May or later is more likely.
Correct definitely won't be open in February but I could see a soft opening in April maybe. This ride itself is done the ride is running on the tracks everyday it's all detail work that's being done at this point.

We go through this over and over again...
Thy pay no attention to anniversary dates for any reason...and they certainly have no reason to make announcements around them. Announcements are planned around investor/quarterly earnings calendars.

They painted the castle
Pink for an anniversary....then built a big hand for 2000 and a hat for not much of anything...

Flatlined on "anniversaries" since

I understand but when will they announce anything at DHS then? Did they announce Disney springs during a certain time in the calendar that one just kind of seemed random to me.

I fully agree. All these presumptions that just because a given park is having some anniversary there will be a big announcement of a new attraction or land is just wishful thinking.

As far as Disney is concerned right now, the only priority at WDW is getting all the bugs with next Gen resolved. Capital is tied up in that as well as the Shanghai park, so there isn't a bunch of money sitting around to add $800 million plus elements to WDW.

And I see no way possible that they could build anything of substance in the Star Wars "area" without that much. A new simu-ride if some type, a "really big" giftshop and a themed quickserve ain't gonna cut it.
