Confession time......I've been really bad for the last couple of weeks. I've been depressed because I "fell off the wagon" and have been eating horrible things, and slowly gaining my weight back! It seems like as soon as I "cheat" and eat one bad thing, then my cravings just seem to take over and I can't get back to healthy eating again!

So, I had good talks with two good friends yesterday (thank you, Amelia and Kelsie!!) who have helped me change my attitude, and stop feeling sorry for myself! After much thinking (and little sleep) last night, here's what I've come up with:

Previously, I let myself get depressed when I looked so far ahead at my goals. I need to lose about 50 pounds, and that sounds like so much! Can you believe when I read other people's accomplishments, it actually depresses me, when it should be encouraging me? I get down about it, and start eating. NO MORE!! From now on, I'm taking this one day, and one pound, at a time! I'm going to celebrate the little goals and accomplishments, and stop focusing on the future!

In fact, I'm going to even break it down more, and focus on getting through one MEAL at a time! Every meal I have that's healthy is another accomplishment toward losing weight and being healthier! Right?

So - here I go! Wish me luck! :Pinkbounc

I'm cheering you on Rhonda!! Go, go go!!! Lots of PD & well wishes to you ****~~***~****~***~~**

We are here for you. Remember, if you eat something sweet or a carb, it increases your cravings. That's what happened.

I'm so glad that you are not giving up & had such great pep talks from other WISH'ers. Let me know if there is something that I can say or do to help.:p

You don't need luck -- you're doing it all on your own and doing a heck of a job. 10 lbs down already! You're 1/5 of the way to your goal. That's one heck of an accomplishment.

Day by day; pound by pound you are getting healthier.

I say, great job. And great attitude!

I know it's hard when you've spent your life eating a certain way to turn things around without at least a few slips and back steps. We're all in the same boat and know exactly how you feel.

The hard part seems to be forgiving ourselves for our backsteps. In post after post people beat themselves up for being human. Hey, we're not perfect, so after a bad day we need to pick ourselves up and move on.

Maybe you need to go back to induction and rid your body of all those nasty carbs and get a fresh start. Who knows it may even lift your spirits too! What ever you decide to do we're all here for you.

The main thing is, just don't give up!!

I'm sending love and hugs with just a sprinkle of Pixie Dust for good measure. My prayers are with you.

From one best bud to another.

Thank you! Yes, I'm definitely back on Induction for 2 weeks! I need to get rid of my cravings, and clean myself out again! At least this time, I shouldn't have the headaches. At least I hope not....

Rhonda, I am glad to hear you are out of your slump, and are ready to move forward again. Believe me, I can so relate to how you have been feeling because I have been there in the past. I, too, can get out of control with my eating quickly if I eat something that is not on my program (the cravings do take hold quickly!!).

It sounds like you got excellent advice from Ameila and Kelsie! I think that baby steps are so important, and that looking forward is a key to weight loss success. I mean, what can you really do about what you did or didn't do yesterday? NOTHING! But you have choices you can make today, so it's prudent to try and make good ones! When we have lots of weight to lose (and believe me I want to lose about as much as you want to lose) it can get overwhelming and if we have carried around the weight for a long time we get really good at taking pot shots at ourselves for, what we perceive as, our failures. Don't we? We need to change how we look at ourselves and our weight loss journey, and changing old habits takes some time.

I have been focusing on one day at a time too, and I have to say that it has made a huge difference in my outlook. I have stopped looking at the total pounds I have to lose, and I live in the here and now. In doing this I have found that I find it pretty easy to just get through one day. Then comes the next day and I am usually able to get through that to. I make mini goals for myself, and am getting good at celebrating my accomplishments. You can do it to! I know you can!

Good for you Rhonda....just take one meal at a time....I think that should be our new motto....LOL.

You can do this....Just to let you know..I restarted induction..and I did have headaches the second time around...it seemed a little harder...but it was worth it...because in 4 days...I have already lost all of my vacation pounds.

Just posting to send some support to a fellow Minnesotan on Atkins. Good for you - it will be lots easier for you if you find a way not to worry about yesterday or tomorrow. You can do just about anything for just today, right?

If you get hungry, eat. Keep lots of legal stuff around, and find something you really like that will help you get past the tough moments. For me it was an Atkins chocolate shake that I "doctored" up by adding some heavy whipping cream. That really took away any cravings I had. Sometimes, I "cheated" just a little by having a diet vanilla coke or a handful of macadamia nuts. I know that those last two aren't technically allowed on Induction, but I figured that they were a lot less harmful than bread, pasta, potato chips, ice cream or whatever else I thought ;) I wanted. Anyway, neither seemed to slow down my loss - the inches continue to slowly disappear even during the times that the scale is "broken". :teeth:

I know you can do it! It will be worth it! Best wishes!

Good for you!

Attitude is everything!!!!!!! And I think it's great that you are breaking your weight loss into small goals. The only way to get there is a pound at a time! I was pretty discouraged for a few weeks reading about some of the amazing weight losses people were reporting week after week, but I kept on and I am even closer to my goal now than I ever was! :) You've got the rest of your life - and hopefully it won't take that long! (hee hee!)

You are the one who is going to do this for yourself. Make it your priority to feel good and make choices that support your new healthy lifestyle and attitude. A friend of mine posted an inspirational quote on another message board:

Your body is a temple. Littering is strictly prohibited.

Take good care of your temple! :) And let us join with you in the celebrations!!!! I'm sure that every day you will do something good for your body, so make sure you focus on THAT instead of the other thoughts... :)

Rhonda you have such a positive attitude about it, you could be nothing BUT successful in your new venture! Good for you!! :)

We are all here if you need us! :)

Sweetie!!! 50 pounds and I would be SCREAMING SUCCESS!!! (Meaning I wish I only had 50 to lose! :)) I started out with 86 to lose and I'm just tackling 10 pounds at a time- it is difficult to find that mindset you need- but I can guarantee you this board will catapult you there! My exercise has more than quadrupled (well anything x 0 is doubling!!) and I have to make myself eat because I'm not hungry- but if you put a hot pizza in front of me- it'd be hard not to want to eat 4 slices- so what do I do? I RUN to the computer to read some WISH posts and by the time I make it back to the kitchen my 3 kids and hubbie have devoured it- well, maybe there's one piece left- and if I want it I have it and ENJOY IT! and of course have a great salad with it.
It takes many many small victories before you feel your confidence and willpower can conquer anything- but it will happen!!
And having a great attitude like you do- you're gonna get there fast!!
GREAT JOB!!!
Tara
