New area coming AK in 2015

Come 2015 the Africa Marketplace will open in the spring. This area will feature a quick service restaurant, merchandise locations, and a new walkway linking Africa and Asia. The restaurant will be called harambe marketplace.

Discovery Island is also set to get a new Table service restaurant. The name has not been released yet. The location is the current Next to Pizzafari. The two restaurants are said to share dining areas.

I like it. AK has been growing on me and with all the additions and coming plans it seems it will only be getting better.

I think when they get a few more attractions they will be a viable full day park for us.. now we just go early hit the main attractions and have lunch then decide whether to stay or head to another park..

We already spend a full day in the park. This just makes it better.

I wonder how the shared dining room will work since one is CS and the other is TS?

Love this. AK is our favorite park (we're in the minority, I know), so any expansions there make me happy.

Already we face the touch choice of Tusker vs Yak & Yeti on each trip. Pretty much have to pick one or the other... now we'll be forced to pick between 3! And for QS, Flametree will likely get the back burner as the Africa QS will have to be tried. Then, combine all this with a new restaurant coming to Pandora -- this will be good.

Reports seem to suggest this Africa expansion will be done by Dec which is awesome!

This will not be done by December of 2014. It's scheduled to open in the Springs of 2015.

I was talking with a cast member at one of the kiosks in Animal Kingdom and she was tell me some of the rumors floating around from other cast members.
2017 is the planned opening for the new Avatar attraction being built. Possibly a light show of some kind at night since the animals are brought in around 5:00. She also saif there was a rumor of a Night Time Safari.
