Aqautica is building a new attraction. No idea what it is except it will be tall.

From the Orlando Sentinel.

Aquatica, SeaWorld's water park, has released one more fact about a new attraction that will open there in 2014: It will be more than 100 feet tall.

That would make it "the tallest water thrill ride of its type in Orlando," according to a SeaWorld Orlando news release distributed Friday morning.

Also attached to the release was an image of a red balloon with a tag reading "105' ". That was a reference to the sightings of a balloon over the Aquatica site earlier this year. That's a common technique used to test sightlines of planned attractions.

Not revealed: the type of ride or slide, its name or theme, the timing of its opening.

I saw that yesterday. I wonder when it will open. My dh will probably love it.

We were curious about that, too.

We are *hoping* to get back to Orlando in August 2014, and the boys are eager to visit Aquatica again (the Disney waterparks were fun this trip, but did not impress them like Aquatica did). I would be fabulous if it were open sometime next summer!

I would think they would try to have it open for the summer crowds. We're going in both may/June and September. Hoping that its open for May since that is our longer trip.

This has now been named, it will be called Ihu's Breakaway Falls. It will be the tallest, steepest, and only multi-slide rde of its kind in Orlando.

They have some clips on YouTube, you should be able to search for the full name of the attraction and you will them. Right now the clips don't show much of the actual ride.

It is named after the gecko mascot, and will be open "in 2014", nothing solid yet.

I hope it's a speed slide like the open slides on Vanish Point. (Not the skybox floor-drop-out version that has crazy lines and stuff.)
Sounds cool!:)

Not in a million years! Even my fearless son says "I'm not going on that"

Can't wait to go to Aquatica. Love it there.

Got an email the other day about it. Looks amazing. I think I would have to try it out.

I got an email about Ihu's Breakway Falls too.:) It's the skybox floor-drop-out kind. No fair! I would prefer a normal speed slide because I like taking a big deep breath before I go. You can't do that if you don't know when you'll be dropped, so you'll probably get water up your nose. Oh well, I would try it once just to check it out.:) But I can say now that I wouldn't do it again if it DOES get water up your nose.:P

EDIT: Just looked it up again; it says there is one slide that the floor doesn't drop out on. Awesome!:) No water up the nose.XD

Ihu is very close to being complete. It looks like testing is either going on now or will start shortly. Pass member preview days start in less than 2 weeks.

There are 4 slides total, 3 of them are drop boxes and the other one (the purple one) is a regular slide.

Pass Member Previews start on May 3, so looks like plenty of time between the preview and the grand opening to have a soft opening.

lol, its definitely not my kind of water attraction (I'm more of a Roa's Rapids kind of gal ;) ) but DH and DS will give it a whirl for sure. They loved Scorpions Tale at Noah's Ark in Wisconsin Dells, and Ihu's Breakaway Falls looks somewhat similar (though taller and no loop).

Can't wait for August!!! Hoping that they "newness" will wear off a little by then and that the crowds won't be too bad.

If it's opening on 9 May, does that mean the park will be really busy that weekend? I has planned to go there on Saturday, 10th May but might have to re-think if the placed is going to be mobbed.

As an aside, how bad does it get of the park is really busy? Are you queueing a long time for rides etc? What sort of delays would we expect?

I talked to someone at the park today and they did a soft open. Guess some people loved it and some people looked like they were truly petrified.

No idea if the soft open will continue or not, so definitely wait until the grand opening if you want to ensure you ride it.

Yes, we were in the park today, and the new attraction seemed to be running all day. We did not ride it (we are not in to slides), but plenty of people were -- the line looked reasonably busy most of the day.

Ihu had its grand opening today, was anyone else there? They had a nice crowd of people wanting to ride. They had a DJ at the beginning and then had Polynesian dancers. After that the Park VP had a few words and they opened the ride up. The first group of riders got free t-shirts, I couldn't tell for sure how many people got them, but it was more than a few.

Has anyone else been on it yet? I have done all slides at least once and I must admit - it is an experience.

I rode it yesterday. It is quite tumultuous! Wasn't quite sure where i was when i got off. ( i rode orange btw)
