New Aquaman Image

They just released an image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman. Do you love the changes from the original comic book? Or do you hate it?

Meh. He looks a little too much like his character from Game of Thrones (with the hair, beard, and tattoos). But that is coming from someone who saw like 2 episodes of the show, so...

As for whether he's blond, I don't really care. And Aquaman's costume has changed enough times that the orange and green one is sort of iconic, but not really.

I think Acquaman looks sinister now. I never really thought of him as having a "dark" side when I watched him on Saturday morning in the early-mid 70's with the Wonder Twins and everyone.

There was a while there were he was a pretty ticked-off dude and had long hair and a beard.

I actually like it. Aquaman has a tendency to be a bit dorky and this certainly isn't that!

It's certainly a change... it's darker, for sure. But, Khal Drogo does look good!

It's not that they changed the look form the comic, but this look is endemic to the problem that DC is having with their movies. It's too dark, grim, and serious, like they're afraid to actually embrace what makes Superheroes unique. There's no sense of fun. It's like they say, let's use Aquaman, but we don't like his orange shirt, or fins, or that he's half-human, or that he talks to fish...change all that (those are just conjecture, not what they are actually doing). You're left with a generic character from Game of Thrones or any other dark fantasy movie. Way to step out on a limb! And why do they always want to put a guy who spends so much time in the water in metal armor?

Personally, I don't care to see this film anyway (as I did not see Man of Steel). Marvel is making the movies I want to see these days!

I too am a Marvel fan. I feel that they are dropping the ball on the DC comics. My oldest daughter just watched Captain America for the first time last weekend and she loved it. She also likes the Avengers movie. She has never shown any interest in any of the Superman movies. Besides, I don't think I would let her watch them as they are so dark.

You beat me to it! I was goign to say that's what I think of anytime I hear Aquaman, Raj's costume w/ the seahorse.

Hate it. That is NOT Aquaman. He looks scary and dark and....nope, not Aquaman.

And to a PP, yes, armor is NOT a good call for an underwater hero

OMG, I had to say something to the bolded...I absolutely LOVE "Man of Steel". I did not go to the theater to see it. It came on cable and now I have seen it 50 times. Such a great cast and I can't wait for the the next one.

As far as the new "Aquaman", I really do not care so much about changing the "look" as long as it "fits" with the story.

However I enjoy the reboots and darker side of things.

I kind of like AquaDrogo, (big fan of Game of Thrones, and I think they had to do something to make Aquaman look more formidable) but I agree that DC is too dark. I saw Man of Steel twice, and while I can appreciate it, I was desperate for some jokes to lighten it up. That's why I LOVE the Marvel movies and can watch them over and over. But I didn't like the Batman movies, either and I know that puts me in the minority. I like a little more escapism in my escapist entertainment.

DC needs to embrace it's corny cartoonish vibe. Enough of the "darkening". It cheapens (an already cheap) brand.

DC is so late to the dance at this point...not sure there is anything they can do to step to the MCU.
