New APs? Will this affect DVC passes?

did the prices go up? I thought the dvc was was like 150 off oh well having the photopass retro active would have been nice....

I bought myself an 'extra' annual pass about 2 weeks ago. I did not think the price was going up or changing - I just needed to spend $5-600 to get a credit card bonus that exceeded that amount for me. ;).

So now I have the one that I bought back in February but have not yet activated, plus this extra one.

I also have a bunch of non expiry tickets.

I'm going for a week in November, but I don't go every fall. Go to F&W every 2-4 years.

I do go every winter - Jan or Feb.

I think I need to reconsider activating an AP for this trip and maybe go with some single day tickets.

Than activate my AP in February so as to get two to three possible trips - Feb, Oct/Nov, and Jan of following year.

Darn - I had this all figured out! Now I have to do another trip spreadsheet!

I guess this answers our question on any deals on AP's this year. I would guess no. Think about what they gain with this. If DVC member dpnt use their rooms during these holidays they automatically get them and can sell them for $1000's a night plus the tickets for the guests. They still get the DVC members at other times and can really leverage how much they make. They get the rooms if we exchange out too. Disney is very smart on how they shafts their most loyal guests

We are going from Dec 22-Jan 5 and our Ap's expire Dec 24, guess the Mouse got our money this year. Since we have to buy Platinum for our trip, anyone know if we would pay the renewal fee or pay the full price for Platinum? Im not calling MS until tomorrow, wait times have been crazy lately and I imagine wait times today are going to be even worst with everyone calling in.

can some one explain what exactly happened? i bought my passes back in Jan and activated them in august i thought i paid 749 minus 150 dvc for a price of 600....from what i am seeing its still 749 but just minus 100......

Ugh. I was just going to buy passes in the next couple of weeks in time for our the 60-day window for our December trip and I was thinking of renewing my APs. We go during black out dates so now I'm screwed. Another nail in the coffin for Disney. I have been disenchanted for a while.

How much profit does one company need?

:earsboy: Bill

the answer is a lot more you can blame all the people who have cut their cords.....disney used to rely on hefty profits from ESPN and now that is under siege from cord cutters and people dropping espn....Disney is transitioning to maximize profit from studios parks and interactive...so break it down as simple as possible blame that person who cuts cords......and direct all your anger on parks price increases towards them.....

Per my only minutes-old phone discussion with MS, if you have a current regular annual pass already purchased (we bought ours this past summer), then the blackout dates for this holiday season do not apply. To renew to a similar status as regular AP, then the new Gold AP is closest and it comes with PhotoPass downloads. However, it will have blackout dates and cost a bit more: $466 plus tax which will bump it near $500 (the new purchase price will be $585 which includes tax). If you choose a Platinum AP, then the price is even greater somewhere in the $690 range though it won't have blackout dates. We're headed down for a quick trip to see the Osborne Lights one last time (another sore subject for me), so at least we're grandfathered with blackout dates, but no longer in the future. APs will be a thing of the past for us.

So does this apply to vouchers not activated yet? I purchased the DVC Premium renewal in early September, but we won't be activating our vouchers until our trip next month. Will I still have access to the water parks, and also Disney Quest? (That was the whole reason why we got the premium to include admission to Disney Quest before they close, and also water parks for our trip next summer). Thank yoU!!

if you have passes already your fine if you need to renew just upgrade to better one it will cost you 100 more per pass maybe less on a renewal....its a lot better then buying park pass outright......

yes your fine.....you just wont have photopass form what i understand......and its premium so nothing would matter anyway....only people who are upset are the florida dvc passe that have a blackout date of 2 weeks around christmas and easter week...it looks like

Will the AP's keep the merchandise and meal discounts??

My guess would be no. You get the exact pass u purchases when you purchased it. I would assume you could pay the difference and upgrade your pass to the mm one, but I doubt you would get that add on for nothing

If you are at the point where you don't mind the days blocked out, than you should be able to get the MM for the difference in your pass cost - about $26? (My pass was $563.39 with tax included.)

This is just a guess as the passes are now not the same.

They are posting 6 to 7 billion dollars profit per year.

Yes, I have valid APs right now but I put it off renewing until October so I could use my Disney Vacation Account to purchase them. I was also looking at a 7-10 day pass since I'm not sure we will return within a year.

what is the new renewal price for APs under the new system i cant see that bc mine are not up for renewal......i dont think the damage will as bad that initially thought

The photo pass is only for the person who has it on their ticket. I just read a synopsis on the Disney site and it stated that the photopass is not linked to family and friends. So unless the person with the pass is in every picture or uses their band for every picture it is worthless to a family trip. So now you still need memory maker unless you have a lot of MB for that person that you can each carry.

But now they have to pay for the Toy Story land you asked for, :rotfl2:and the Star Wars land.
Since they didn't have any money set aside for those additions, it had to come from somewhere. :rotfl:

I can't remember what the price was last night.

The Gold is a new AP available to DVC members with black out dates, The Platinum is the old regular AP and the Platinum Plus is the old Premium AP.

We purchased the DVC AP (just the plain one, no water parks) for next month's trip. We are going to activate the vouchers our first night there.

Does this translate to the new Gold pass? Or since we purchased it (but did not activate it) prior to October 4th will it be more like the new Platinum?

And will it include memory maker? Which we already bought separately.
