We just returned from 5 great days at Universal Orlando. I haven't seen this info anywhere else on the boards so I thought I would post this. There is a new Frequent Diner Progam for the full service restaurants at US and IOA, that is, Lombard's Seafood Grille and Finnegan's Bar & Grill at US and Mythos and Confisco Grille at IOA. The program apparently started just a few days ago and not all the servers are aware of it and some of the ones who are don't have all the details yet. I'll describe all the particulars and then tell the story of what happened to us.

In short it is: Buy four entrees and get the fifth entree for free. You get a Frequent Diner Program card from any of the above named restaurants which is stamped at the end of your meal. Here's the fine print from my card: "One stamp per Preferred Annual Passholder per card, per visit. Stamps and free meals are valid for entrees only. Cards are non-refundable, non-transferrable (they have to be signed on the back by the cardholder) and may not be combined with any other discounts. Gratuity not included. All stamps must be received by 9/30/05. **Passholder must present Frequent Diner Card and valid Preferred Annual Pass to receive discount. Restrictions may apply and offer is subject to change without notice."

OK; here's what happened to us so you all know what to ask for and get it straight. This past Friday 4/16, the four of us (all of whom are AP holders) had lunch at Lombard's Seafood Grille. Nothing was mentioned about the new program. Saturday, 4/17 we had lunch at Mythos. I pulled out my AP for the discount and our server came back with a Frequent Diner Card for me with one UO stamp on it. She said that the program was brand new this week and that AP holders should be getting cards in the mail soon. I mentioned that we had eaten at Lombard's the previous day and had not received anything. When we were leaving IOA and heading back over to USF, I stopped at guest services to see if I could get a stamp on the card for our meal at Lombard's the previous day. I still had my Lombard's receipt as I had put it on my credit card. The CM at guest services didn't know anything about the program but called over to Lombard's for us. I was told that if I went back to Lombard's with my receipt they would stamp it for me. Great! So now I've got two stamps already. We then went and rode ROTM about 10 times (a couple of times as a family and then Single Riders line). By this time, we were ready for dinner and were going to leave the park but the kids started screaming that they wanted to eat at Finnegan's across the street. So we did. At the end of the meal I pulled out my new Frequent Diner Card and gave it to our server along with my AP for a discount. Well, our very knowledgeable server asks me if all four of us have AP's. I tell her yes and she comes back with Frequent Diner Cards for all four of us. Mine now has 3 stamps and everyone else's just the one from Finnegan's. There's nothing she can do about the ones that DH, DS14 and DS10 should have gotten from Lombard's and Mythos, however, and by this time it's late and I don't feel like heading back to guest services, Lombard's and/or Mythos, so I just left it at that. So as it stands, my card has 3 stamps and everyone else's has just one.

I just wanted you guys to know that everyone in your party should get a card as long as they have an annual passport. No matter what, it's a great new perk and I wanted to share. Can't wait to get back and get my free entree!

Thanks for the great info! We are PAP holders as well. This is great!!! Did they say when we are to receive the cards in the mail? I haven't gotten my AP newsletter yet, maybe with that?

No, she didn't know exactly when they would be sent out. With the newsletter would be my bet also, but if you don't get something in the mail (which happens to us a lot:mad: ) you can just ask for the FD cards at the restaurant. I noticed that we no longer got birthday cards for free desserts in the mail, I guess this replaces that program. I like the free entree idea a LOT better::yes::

By the way, we're practically neighbors. We live just over the border in South Carolina. I'm in Savannah at least once a week!
Isn't it great to be only 4 1/2 hours away from Orlando? It's a great long weekend getaway for our family.

A quick question - in your description of what is written on the card, it states - "may not be combined with any other discount." But, if I'm understanding correctly, you said you received your AP discount? Do you think the AP discount will always be given or was that a fluke due to the fact that the program is still new. Thanks!

We LOVE living so close to Orlando! We are AP holders at both WDW and US/IOA...although we don't get to go nearly as often as we would like! We also don't get a lot in the mail from US/IOA. Every other month or so...I think the last thing we got was in January, and most of the things that were in the newsletter had either already happened, or were happening that week! Not much of a chance of getting in on something with that short of a notice! Oh, well....we're going to WDW in August for a family reunion and are planning a couple of days at US/IOA as well for some family members who have never been, so we'll definately look into this! Thanks again for the heads up!

I interpret it to mean that at the meal you get your free entree, you're not entitled to any other discount, most likely AP included. I'm sure that the AP discount is still given to you at the meals where you just get your FD card stamped.

I called the passholder hotline and was told that I could get the cards at the restaurants. At Mythos they told me that they would be sent by mail and to check Guest Services. GS got them for me after a song and dance and I had to return to Mythos to get stamped. For the hassle I'm going to get 4 of the cheapest entrees and on the 5th go whole hog!

I'm going to be getting an AP for my trip in August with my family of 11! Does this mean if I charge everyone's dinner on my credit card I can get that free entree? I'm the only one in the group that will have the AP.

Every passholder gets a card and each was stamped, so no you can't get 4 and 1 free at one sitting. Nice try though.

I got my card in the mail from the AP office, but I still have not gotten my Mummy invite.:(
