DVC Owners Anonymous come to order.

Hi. My name is Alex. And I am.... a DVC Member. My struggles with Disney began when I was little. My parents took me only a few times as I was growing up (we were middle class, but not rich so we had to save for years), but my father's vacation priority was always Disney. After my first divorce, I was in my 30's and my money was my own, so my priority became Disney as well.

In 2011, I was staying at the Contemporary and they put me into BLT. A DVC guide told me he would be interested in showing me what DVC could do for me, but I thought I didn't have the time. He told me what if I could give you your time back? I laughed and said I knew Disney had magic, but I was pretty sure they didn't have a time machine. That was when he produced fast pass cards (in those days, no blackouts).

I was hooked. I became a member that day. Since that day, I have had a problem. When I have bad years, I always have my DVC vacation to fall back on. I plan. I look. I look for new things to do at Disney. I discover. I come to these boards and talk about my experiences. I am on several Disney FB sites.

When I have bad days, I take a few minutes to reflect on my past DVC vacations. I look at my point charts. I plan for the future.

I.... I am not just a user. I hate to admit, I am a pusher too. I take family with me to Disney. I get 1BR rooms (or even treehouses) and let them stay with us. "Bring the kids!" I invite them. All are welcome! You only have to pay for transportation, tickets and food. I know I am probably addicting future generations. I feel no shame in this even thought their lives, like mine, may be spent in turmoil chasing their next big trip.

I did not use protection despite the warnings. I have.... add-on-itis. I did not hear the warnings. I did not believe it could happen to me. I thought I was invincible. DW tells me we can not afford my add-on-itis addiction. I know this. But it doesn't stop me from hoping, dreaming, NEEDING my next contract.

I am a DVC member.

I.... I know we have new members on this board. I know we have some alumni here as well tonight. Some of you may not realize you are addicted to DVC. However, if you have ever had family say to you "you are going to Disney AGAIN?" or perhaps friends have said "there are other places you can go in the world". Whether you think you are addicted to DVC or not, why don't you come out here and join me?

My name is Sandi. This is the perfect club for me! I have been a true Disney fan since I was young. We moved to south Florida for a short time when I was growing up and our year end trips were always to the Magic Kingdom. Once I had a family, my DH and I began bringing our children to WDW in 1994 and went almost yearly from then on. We loved the Contemporary and said we would consider DVC when and if they ever built one there.

Sure enough, BLT became a reality and we became members in 2009! My yearly trips when I was teaching were so fun to plan and look forward to. Of course, we have added on a lot since those early days because WDW is where I love to be!!!

Now that I am retired, I get to enjoy 5 to 6 trips a year there...some alone...some with family and friends...but enough to get me away from the snow and cold of Syracuse, NY winters!!! It has changed a lot since I began going, but it truly is my happy place and I have learned to role with it and always make lemonade out of those lemons that sometimes happen!!!

Can't wait to add on new VGF points in 2022! My goal is 1000 points...VGF will get me to 880 or 900 (depending on how many we decide on!!).

Just closed on my first hit...I mean, uh, contract. Waiting for my dealer, I mean Disney to load the points...Haven't even made a DVC reservation yet and I already feel myself wondering where I will get my next dose... There's a seedy looking corner over there at the Boardwalk that looks like it might have the good stuff. Or maybe out in the woods by that Creek....

I am a card carrying member of this club - I push this to others - I have enjoyed doing this for decades / but sad to say it is starting to not be so Magical to me right now - I have sold two of bigger contracts - and I am considering selling my other two. I am waiting to see what Disney does in the next year - they may cure my addiction - I will be very very sad if they do. I hope to see a turn around and if I do - I plan on purchasing another resort. I hope really hard to continue being a card carrying member until I am dead !!! I hope my faith in Disney is not misguided or misplaced
I’ve had years of enjoyment and made tons of memories and would like it very much to continue !!

It was a rainy day, the innocent looking person under the weather protected corner offered us relief from the weather. It was a blessing,,,they teased my children with stickers. Then teased us with a ride that was not a bus, but private van to and from the park to let the kids rest. And while they rested and stayed dry, they slipped us oh so sublimely their pitch of bliss. We hummed and hahhed , they sent in the fresh cookies and ice cream. We bite at the hook,,,but quickly shook it off. Finished the trip and headed home. But the seed was planted, they hid it in the cookies. We now craved Disney,,,couldnt stop thinking about small world and soaring the skys while traveling around the world seeing all the countries.
Thankfully we found a cheap generic drug called resale, before they started watering down that brand.
We have been able to maintain and have it under control after 2 does, but the itch still needs scratching from time to time, and that is why we need support groups like this.
Thank you.

OMG
Hello my name is Kerri. I am a DVC member and I identify with your story! It takes courage to be so honest and …. We are not alone.:smokin::smooth:

To really pull this off, y'all need to share the strength 🏋️‍♂️ and hope :thumbsup2parts, not just the experience :drinking1part!

You have me confused with someone who is in recovery. I am not. I can not share the strength or hope parts. Strength? I have none. Hope? I am told there may not be a cure.

In fact, I did talk to my Doctor about my addiction. I was hoping she might have a cure....

My doctor is going on her third trip this May. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
(Sadly, this is not a joke. I think I passed my addiction to my Doctor. She hasn't been afflicted with DVC yet, but it's only a matter of time).

Hi, my name is Calvin and I am a newer DVC member. It all started with a 2019 trip to WDW. We had one previous trip in 1999, but now our kids are adults and we wanted to try it again. So we booked a BW resort stay. In planning for this trip, we saw mentioning of DVC on various YouTube vlogs. What was this DVC? We had to find out more. So on this trip, we saw a DVC dealer. He hooked us up with a trip to SSR and a tour of the shiny model rooms. They lured us with ice cream, but we resisted. Ultimately, we came back and took what was to be our one and only hit.

But we have a granddaughter, who was just starting to enjoy Mickey and Minnie. she needed a trip to a magical place. That’s when add-on-itis first hit. We needed a few more points so we can get 2 rooms every other year, to take our granddaughter and family every other year. That first trip was magical, putting the biggest smile on a 4 year old during a character breakfast.

We bought just before the pandemic and actually enjoyed lower crowds at the parks. Reports from cruise trips told of low crowds there too, so we booked a cruise for after our Thanksgiving trip to Houston, and we’re rewarded with a third full ship. In the meantime, we’re planning our next trip with the granddaughter. She’s growing up fast and trips every other year just seems like we’ll miss too many opportunities. So add-on-itis hit again on the ship and now we have enough points to book 2 rooms each year or a 2-bedroom.

We tell ourselves that this is it, but then there’s the future DVC at Disneyland. Will this group help to cure us or will we get our next fix because of it? Only time will tell.

However, if you have ever had family say to you "you are going to Disney AGAIN?" or perhaps friends have said "there are other places you can go in the world".
People that say things like "you are going to Disney AGAIN?" or "there are other places you can go in the world" don't understand Disney.

They should not be trusted. :rotfl2:
