I cannot see how anyone would not like WL!
I have visited the other resorts, but we always want to stay at WL.
What I love most about it is that it is all one building.
I love the magic of walking through the lobby everytime you come back from a park.
I just dont think I would like a moderate or value resort were the only time you see the lobby is when you are checking in and out.
2 more weeks and I am there, I know I will cry when I walk through the doors and hear the music playing!

My suggestion is to keep your reservation for WL, if after you enter the massive front doors and enter that impressive lobby and do not experience Goosebumps go straight to guest relations and request a transfer. I know they will oblige, however be warned, part of you will not leave WL and you will always be yearning to return. [/B]

I completely agree with Floridacat! Just walking in the front doors of this wonderful resort will entrance you. Just like Majestic, My dh and I first trip to WDWwas ffor our honeymoon. We stayed at WL and this year are going again - trip #2 for us however this year we are bringing our 3 children. Their first trip. I am getting the goose bumps just writing this. I cant wait to see the looks on thier faces and the excitement. And just like JBurke, I also will probably crying when we drive up and walk into those grand doors again. Darnit im tearing up now. Just goes to show it really is a small world after all. Dont change your plans you will love it. Cant wait to read your trip report.

Why is everyone making fun of the "Giant toaster in the sky" [LOL], errr, I mean, the CR?? It has all the ambiance of a bus terminal, and then some!!! You feel like you've stepped into the FUTURE - 1970! (oh, yeah, that's the PAST!) Well, ummm, I hear the parking lot is just so spacious and lovely!! I'd better quit while I'm BEHIND....Mom always said, "If ya don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all!!"

giant toaster, i like that :p

anyway, you can't miss with wl. can't explain its true feeling and atmosphere, you just have to experience it yourself. and it truely is an experience. my dh and i love just to stay at the lodge and not even go to the parks sometimes.

also, we love it so much that we drive over there some saturdays just to have a meal and just to sit in the lobby. :D

..just how far ARE you from WL??? (I, for one, am gettin' lime-green with envy!)

kimmar067... LOL... Giant toaster !!! I have to remember that if someone suggests it to me! :p

I have woods view.. is that OK?

kimmar -

it takes us about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the wl. right now they are doing construction on I-4 and when that is done i expect it to be even quicker. major leg of the journey is getting through tampa. i love that we are so close. :D

I am about an hour from the other direction on I-4. DD wants to find a good place for Thanksgiving while we are down there next month.

annamonte - I have read all 50 pages of this thread and others. I have never read anything bad about woods view. In fact, many people prefer it to the more expensive water views. It also should guarantee you don't have a standard parking lot view.

I for one considered changing our resort to CR a while back. We thought we would enjoy the monorail access and the larger rooms. But we really decided that theming is more important to us. SO I can't wait to be transported to the great Northwest every day of our trip! I'm already glad we stuck with WL and we're not even there yet. (Although I have eaten there a few times, so I've seen the fabled lobby).

There is Standard View, Woodsview, Courtyard View.
Woodsview rooms are on the outside of the north wing, on your left as you face the Lodge. The view is overlooking trees and some rooms can view a small pond, called Otter Pond. Also some of the rooms can see the Castle at MK and the fireworks. This is my DD prefered view as it is very peacefull and we enjoyed the firewooks better from WL then when we were wt the park.

My suggestion is you request a room on the 5th a room close to 5030 to around 5014, 6030 to 6014 for 6th floor.

Many times some get a upgrade to Courtyard view at check in. Then you would be overlooking the area inside the "U" that is formed by the buildings, pool, waterfall and the like.

Here is a link of WL photos to help you see what Iam explaining.

I did it - read the entire post - only took me all day. You guys crack me up. I feel like I know you just from all the reading.

Thanks to all of you for such wonderful information.

I got an email from Disney giving me a discount code for Deluxe rooms last week. I've always wanted to stay at WL but since I just got back from vacation, I didn't think it was possible. This morning, on a whim, I called just to see what might be available and amazingly was able to get the dates I wanted (9/18 through 9/23). I was also able to use frequent flyer miles for direct flights. So within an hour I decided to go to Disney and got everything booked. This must be my lucky day. I guess I will be spending the next month a half on his thread.

I'm just so excited.

Somtimes that's the best way to plan a Disney vacation! The first time we went, my we had just been married, bought a house, and my then out of the blue, husband's place of employement shut down, and we had no prospects! The day after it all "hit the fan" we were sitting at my parents kitchen table with everyone saying "oh what ever are you going to do?", and I said, "Lets go to Disneyworld!" And you know what, two weeks later, we were there having the time of our lives! It remains my favorite trip, just because of the last minute, throw caution to the wind feel of it! And we just can't stop going back now...........
But now, I've become "queen of the planners" and every penny must be budgeted and lists must be made. Can you imagine how crazy I drive my family?

Oh My Gosh! Have I been visited by the tag fairy?

I'm so excited! I have to go get DH and show him!

Well after the week I've had, that just made my day! Thanks tag fairy!

I'm glad I did it on a whim. Last year I spent so much time making reservations, cancelling, new ressies, changing my mind, changing resorts that it drove me crazy. It's done and hopefully shouldn't cost much as I still have a few days left over from last year's park hoppers. I can't imagine planning a disney vacation a year from now and having to wait. It's only 47 days away and I can't wait. And to think yesterday I wasn't even thinking about going.

Rugratsmom66

I hear ya! I keep looking at my countdown clock and its soooo far away. But I must be strong! I called the airlines the other day and they aren't even taking ressies for that far away! You are going to have a great time. Do you have kids to take out of school? That used to be easy for us, but now as my DS is getting into the upper grades, I'm afraid that it isn't going to be so easy! But I'm going to tell them 6 months ahead of time too!
