New Alcohol Policy Question

Does anyone know the # of bottles allowed back through customs when you return from your cruise? I believe there is a # you can get duty and tax free but I'm not sure. We plan on buying a few bottles on our next cruise but don't want to purchase too many! Thanks for any help!

One liter per person over 21.

Just wondering if anyone knows a quick stop at Nassau to pick up some beer and get back on the ship. We seldom get off at NAssau, but it's our first stop.
Also wondering where to "re-load" in Nassau.

Guess I'll find out. We leave next week. We are on a B2B, so want to replenish on day 2 of the 7 night trip and hopefully not go out again, since Nassau is twice and CC is twice, which limits my choices.

I think US Customs is 2 liters per adult. The state of Texas only allows one duty free, but other states allow two.

Can I bring (carry in my baggage) back alcohol for my personal use or as a gift?

Generally, one liter of alcohol per person may be entered into the U.S. duty-free by travelers who are 21 or older, although travelers coming from the U.S. Virgin Islands or other Caribbean countries are entitled to more. Additional quantities may be entered, although they will be subject to duty and Federal excise taxes, which will be assessed and collected at the port of entry.

In the past we have packed the extra large ziplock bags and bubble wrap and tape to protect the bottles in our luggage. We would then surround it in the middle of a bag with clothes to further protect it from getting tossed around. We didn't bother this year though due to the hassle of getting everything done the morning of as we were doing an early walk off to make sure we made our flight and didn't want to have to deal with trying to quickly pack it that morning.

DCL needs to rethink this and go back to delivering the booze the night before to allow people to properly pack it, especially for those having DCL deliver their luggage to the airport.

Next year we will have to figure out how it is handled on RCCL, because we are going to St Maarteen and will definately be purchasing some guavaberry rum and liquor. This used to be easy on DCL, but we would still deal with it for the guavaberry stuff, it is really yummy:)

We just sailed on RCCL for the first time in January due to our concerns on how DCL would handle it... We bought at least one bottle in every port (had to restock from our October 2014 Southern cruise after all) and they take it the same way DCL does - you put it through the x-ray machine and the person working it calls out 'alcohol' and you move over to the side where they take it from you. They take down your stateroom number and tape it up with your # on the bottle(s) and toss it in a huge laundry cart. The sound of the bottles clinking made my heart stop but they were all delivered safe and sound THE AFTERNOON PRIOR TO DEBARKATION. I too wish DCL would do it that way, but cest la vie! :)

So how many bottles did you end up bringing back with you after the cruise was complete? Did you have to pay duty and taxes on some? If so how much was it roughly if you don't mind me asking? Thank You :)
