Expect it to be very difficult to book, due to the potential demand and the 10 child limit! I got the following information from Cap't Ron at Bayside Marina last night! I can just hear it now:

Ugh, I guess we'll stick with the pirate cruise from GF- since 11yr olds not allowed on this one. :( I swear.. soon as my youngest got old enough for this type of stuff- my oldest will just barely be too old for them. :(

What are you going to show his Birth Certificate at the dock?

Uh no, but if they ask age, I'm not going to have my daughter lie. So I wouldn't take the chance of booking, paying, then having her not allowed to go because she gave her honest age.

My DSs did the pirate cruise last year and loved it
I sure they will want to do this one also.

AFAIK the GF Pirate Cruise is also 4-10, unless it has changed very recently.

My ds just turned ten...and his biggest disappointment is that he only has one more chance to do the pirate cruise...next year in the week before his 11th birthday.

My youngest won't be old enough to go on one until my oldest is 13...and my middle child just tried it for the first time in December.

I like this new one...it will be more convenient when we're staying at the BWV.

Hi All,

I was talking to Cap't Ron last night and he told me that he only had three children on this week's cruise. He said the kids had a lot of fun, especially since it was such a small group.

So can kids age 11 go on the pirate cruise at GF? I thought I read it was 10, but is it really 11? Is so, I would like to try to get my twins in it. They have never tried it, and my kids are still 'playful' and would enjoy it.

Let me know if anyone can confirm that 11 year olds can go.
Thanks!
DJ

Passporter says ages are 3 - 10.

I can't speak for the Pirates Cruise at the Grand, but I did speak to Cap't Ron last night at Bayside Marina. I asked him about 11/12 year olds. He said that his main concern is that the older kids steal a little thunder from the little ones, as far as figuring things out. He is not opposed to letting them on, like I mentioned earlier last week there were only 3 on the cruise. But, I would suggest that the older kids give the little ones a little leeway, if you know what I mean.

I like the idea that the adult:child ratio is better then the crusie at the GF. Only ten kids and 3 adults, nice.

My kids, 5.5, 8, and one week shy of 11 took the cruise in June. They all had an absolute blast. The CMs were terrific. It turns out Captain Ron grew up two towns over from the place I did. Small World at the Yacht Club!

1. Can someone tell me what food is served to the children on the albatross cruise?
2. Also would I have time to walk all the way around the lake at the Epcot area while they are cruising. I haven't been to this part of WDW and would love to see it.
Thank you
Suzy

I believe it's PB&J...perhaps those Uncrustables sandwiches.

Epcot's World Showcase doesn't open until 11am daily, which allows the cruise organizers a great degree of freedom in that part of the park.

If you're referring to the part of the water that extends out to the Yacht / Beach Club and Boardwalk resorts, you can certainly walk around it. If you walk the loop including the walking bridge between the Boardwalk and the Dolphin / Swan, the trip is a little over a mile. You can also walk up toward MGM, but there is only a path on one side of the water, so you'll be retracing your steps to get back. The walk from the Boardwalk to MGM (one-way) is probably close to a mile.

Just a couple clarifications:
-- The loop around Lake Crescent including the Boardwalk-Swan bridge is about 0.8 miles (0.79 according to Caskbill's GPS measurements :teeth: ). See route #3 at http://allearsnet.com/acc/jog.jpg . And if you've never been there before, it is definitely worth doing! It's a lovely walk.

-- Although World Showcase doesn't open until 11:00, the FutureWorld part of Epcot opens at 9:00, and you CAN walk there from the Epcot resorts. Just enter through the International Gate, and you will be permitted to walk past UK and Canada to reach FutureWorld, which is fun in itself. But it's about a 20 minute walk each way from the Yacht Club pier, so you'd have to keep an eye on the clock to get back by 11:30.
