New Al Lutz: CL and BVS Updates

So if we are there when they are doing AP previews, how will they control other park guests from riding (me!)?
By asking for (wink) your (wink) cast ID.

Any chance those staying on property could be included in the previews?

Well, there is a chance that Disney could do a preview for "on site guests." It will be announced if you are eligible.

I know its all speculation, but just curious what the thoughts might be around this for other guests when AP previews are going on?
I think Disney Dreams answered the question of controlling access for CM previews. For AP previews, it's almost the same, with a CM at the entrance of the queue checking for some type of AP admission ticket. For last summer's Star Tours AP previews, APers had to submit their names (I think via email) for entry to the AP previews. If you were a lucky enough to get an email invitation (not every AP "won"), you had to bring a printout of your email to the Star Tours FP machines. There, a CM validated that you were an eligible AP and distributed a FP/ticket to ride Star Tours. You were not allowed to enter the Star Tours queue without one of these tickets.

I don't recall The Little Mermaid having any AP previews, but there were several "soft openings" -- i.e. unannounced preview rides that were open to anyone. The soft openings would usually last a few hours, then the ride would shut down and sometimes would remain shut down or sometimes open back up for another soft open. As a "soft open", you can't really plan in advance for them as they are completely unannounced.

Regarding possible perks for guests staying on-site, the DL hotels did run a promotion last summer that provided early entry privileges to The Little Mermaid. At this time, nothing has been announced about anything similar for this summer, but something might be possible.

Also, *none* of what I just wrote is a guarantee that Disney management will operate the same way for Cars Land AP previews. But it's one possible way they could do it. The most obvious difference is that Cars Land is a whole LAND vs. an individual ride like The Little Mermaid or Star Tours. I'm sure the details are still being worked out. But thinking about it makes me super excited though! :goodvibes
