these rules are likely only on international flights, or perhaps very long domestic flights

we might also see airlines instituting new policies on their own, but as of now there is nothing new "officially" announced for domestic flights as far as i know...

I already am told I can't put my coat on my lap on several flights (as in, use it as a blanket), b/c they seem to think it is a carry-on, but if I use a blanket, they are ok with it... go figure...

By whom? Random persons? DISers? Flight crews? TSA personnel?

Since nothing has changed on domestic flights at the current time, I'm not sure why you're being given apparent misinformation.

No, i meant i have been told this by numerous flight crews on planes I have flown on over the last several years. Once again, not misinformation.
