new age based percentages

yullin3 said that this would be the board to discuss this. the cdc has released new percentages recently based on age. so not as much to be worried about when going places as we thought. copied from facebook.

CDC recently updated estimated infection fatality rates for COVID. Here are the updated survival rates by age group:
0-19: 99.997%
20-49: 99.98%
50-69: 99.5%
70+: 94.6%

You know, percentages can look pretty good, and still not be as good as we hope. For example, those percentages mean that 1 out of every 200 people in the 50-69 age group who get it have died. And 1 out of every 20 people in the 70+ age group have died. This is still a significantly higher death rate than flu, and way higher than other colds. It’s also more contagious than the flu, with known super-spreader events. I think caution is still necessary, even as we find a way to live the best that we can.
