Hello
Not long ago, on this board or maybe CB, there was a thread that talked about Disney offering more activities at a couple resorts, All Star Music being one of them. Can't seem to find the thread through search engine. Thanks in advance.

Just got back. In our check in package was a schedule of events. Lots of Dance Parties, daily Bingo and other games. Every night at 9 they showed a movie by the pool. (weather permitting)

I thought I saw a schedule somewhere?? Has anyone seen a list of activities with times??

We have friends that just booked here for next month and they want to know everything about this resort!!!

THANKS!!!

Does anyone know how long this program is going to go on? Is it permanent?

I was told last month that it is a Pilot Program and may or may not be continued depending on Guest feedback. It really "livens-up" the Calypso Pool area and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.:)

The activities seemed to start around 2pm each day and as mentioned only at the calypso pool.

There was no schedule posted anywhere of what the activities would be or which movie was played but the activity director CM seemed to know in advance what she was going to do. ie she told us she would be having another karoke contest in three days and would stop an activity at a certain time even if everyone was loving it to start a new activity that fizzled out.

The front desk gave us a verbal list of the movies that were to be played each night. Perhaps you could trying the front desk?

I got an actual printed list of activities in my check in. It gave specific times and listed all the movies for that week

They announce the upcoming activities repeatedly at the pool area throughout the afternoon/evening and I think you can get a printed schedule from the front desk. I don't know if they have every activity each day. I think they had bingo and dance contests every day as well as the 9pm poolside movie (indoors in inclement weather).

I heard a scavenger hunt going on one evening which sounded like a lot of fun and it seemed to go on for a while. The teams had anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute (maybe more) to find and bring back the requested item. Points were awarded for every item found and the team with the most points won. Some of the things that asked for were: disney pen, room key, credit card, drivers license from a state west of the Mississippi... from a state east of the Mississippi, calculator, cell phone...). The building housing the front desk/food court was off-limits for the scavenger hunt.

Also, I think there was a charge to play bingo - maybe $1 per card? But, they were playing for prizes. I don't know if there was a charge to enter the scavenger hunt or for any of the other activities.

While I did not participate in any of these events, they seemed to be very popular and created a fun atmosphere even if you weren't participating - what could not be fun about watching a line of people dancing the Macarena?:cool1::cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

i have the schedule still packed away- i will try to get it out tonight and post it.

the kids who participated seemed to have a blast

I called All Star Music a few weeks ago.I did call the All Star Music resort # which is 407-939-6000. Of course that # really goes to the switchboard. After explaining I was going to All Star Music in September (12-19) and I had read about the pilot program and I wanted more info on the activities and movies she did switch me over to the front desk and the front desk CM switched me over to one of the mangers. Anyway I asked about the pilot program and I was informed it will only last through September but if All Star Music and YC&BC (which also has a similar program ) get enough positive feedback they may expand this program to all of the resorts! Yeah. So anyone is going to All Star Music please fill out the pilot survey. Just ask at the front desk. Please be honest but please fill them out.

There will also be CM's in the parks which will ask guests to fill out surveys. They are usually in the parks from about 8-10 A.M. and try to interview about 30 guests a day who will take the time to answer the surveys.

The manager I talked to today sent me a list of the activities they have planned for September.

how was your stay Minnie?

We just returned home late Thursday night ( September 20) so I have not yet posted my review.
Our stay at All Star Music was great.
Thanks for asking.
I love the all of the refurbishments.
The first day I happened to run into the Recreation Manager of All Star Music by the main pool.
I introduced myself and told him all about the good reviews of the new pilot program that I had read about on the DIS.
He was very friendly and actually helped point out where our rooms were located when my friend (DH and I had a room and our friends were in a connecting room) asked where they were located.

Our rooms were clean and they were ready early!
There was a lot staff in the lobby and around the grounds. There were several lifeguards around the pool every afternoon. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed watching the activities from the pool during the afternoon and the movies at night.
We saw National Treasure and Monsters Inc. and parts of others.
I have limited Mobility so I rent a Mobility Scooter from an offsite company when I visit WDW.
All of the bus drivers were very helpful and friendly.
The buses came often except for the Epcot bus on Monday the 17th. We were in line at 8:30 am and the bus did not come until 9:00. That was the first time in all my stays that I waited longer than 20 minutes for park bus to arrive at ASMu.
The next morning when we went to bus stop there was a supervisor and a couple of CM's at the bus stop. The supervisor was standing in roadway making sure the buses were arriving in a timely manner. We figured there were a few complaints the day before and it was good to see that the management was taking steps to assure that it not happen again.
I was very pleased to receive a phone call from the CM who checked us welcoming us a few hours after we checked in. The manager of the resort called the next day to welcome us and told us to let him know if there were any problems or concerns.
He also called the day before check out to let us know he hoped we had a nice stay and if we needed directions, boarding passes, a rental car, or if they could help in any way just to let them know.

DH talked to a security guard who was by the bus stop Monday evening.
He asked the guard how many park buses did WDW have. The guard said he would find out for us.
That night when we returned from DTD there was message on the phone.
He had called to tell us there were 225 buses and just over 1,000 drivers. Now that is going above and beyond the call of Duty.
We had such a great time , we loved the activities, we had great housekeepers, and a very nice stay.

I think the new pilot program is a great success and I am hoping
WDW will continue it and expand it too other resorts!

We enjoyed it so much we are returning next September.
We booked the bounce back special before we checked out!

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:
