Hi folks,
I, too, recevied the Saratoga Springs Resort brochure in the mail and was curious about this line in it: "And, with the new 50-year membership at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort, you can continue that tradition longer than ever before."

Does that mean that Disney has decided what to do with DVC when the current DVC runs out in 2039 (or whatever that year is)? If so, what's the new deal and what happens to those of us in DVC now? Is this a reference to the "DVC-II" we've speculated about?

If anyone has heard anything, please let us know!

It is exactly as it reads.Membership in Saratoga springs is for 50 years. It expires in 2054.Nothing happens to "those of us in DVC now".Our membership in existing DVC resorts ceases in 2042.

I was wondering if anyone knows if you will be able to still use all of the other dvc resorts at the 7 month window after the year 2042? If you will be able to then saratoga springs sounds good.

Just to pass on some info..

I was told by my DVC Sales rep that, post - 2042, Saratoga Springs members will not have access to the "original" 6 DVC resorts.
After 2042, only SSR and future DVC resorts will be available to those who purchased with the 2052 end date.

Might want to check w/ MS to verify. But this was the information I was given.

SSR Points are good at all locations until 2042. After that date, you wil lonly be able to use those points at SSR or any DVC resort built after SSR opens.

Honestly, I think this is a darn good indication that Disney will continue to build DVC resorts. I think it would be very short-sighted to build SSR without having intentions of building other DVC resorts. Do you honestly think that Disney will have "only" SSR for the remaining DVC'ers after 2042? I very seriously doubt it.

To me, the building of SSR strongly indicates an exciting future for DVC. As a current BCV owner and possible future resort purchaser, I'm glad to see this resort go up and the changes in the system that will take place with SSR. It just signals continued growth in DVC. Once we get our BCV interest paid for, which will be in the next couple of years, we will almost certainly buy substantially more points in this phase of DVC.

Exactly--I think it indicates prospective growth. They must be realizing that fewer and fewer people--especially the younger set will be purchasing at this point...the numbers must be going down. I know that the 50 year thing was what pushed me over the edge, and I am 35. I thought I didn't want to be at retirement and then for the thing to end. It would have been depressing. I would have been hesitant to buy into anything ending in 2040 if I was say 45. Even at 35, I was a little iffy...

and then SSR came along!

From what my guide said, there are future prospects, but, of course, it is all speculation at this point. Plus, I think they will do better with building more DVC resorts as opposed to the Pop Century resort, which was on hold for so long.
