You're right. Disney won't lose out here but they sure won't maximize their profits with this promo. All of their other promos involved something for nothing. This one doesn't. No one is going to cancel their vacations because of this but I honestly don't see anyone specifically planning a trip just because of this. I imagine if they kept the same style promotions they have, they would have a much higher profit margin. With today's economy, they need to do more to get people to their parks, not force them to work for it.
Well, it's possible that someone might decide to go this year because of this. He or she may have been saving money for some time to afford this trip. And now they can get a free day if they volunteer. Maybe they're lucky--they find a place they can volunteer that is on the list. They volunteer, they get a free ticket--that's $80 less they have to save. I know I couldn't use the free birthday promo--my birthday was during a peak time & I don't like going at peak season. So if I can find a place to volunteer, I think I'll be doing it--and since I don't have a ticket, that's one less day I have to pay for. And I'll be spending money at Disney--hotel, food, the ticket for the other days. So it looks good to me.
Me too.
