might consider this for next year any word for us dvc'rs?? i will be having 5 kids with us so this might be a great option for us, and then use my dde card
for dinners here and there.

I just read under 30.00. I haven't seen anyone post yet the exact price.

I got $30/day for adult from the prices with the packages.

Not a very good deal in my opinion, but I might consider it on short stays where the refillable mug/day price is higher.

Okay, I tried searching for price per night for the DDP when I woke up this morning and couldn't find it. I decided to do a little math instead. I went to the WDW website to get a quote for a 1 night package with and without each of the dining plans for 1 adult and then 1 adult and 1 child. I got the following prices.

Quick service plan - $29.99 (adult) and $8.99 (child)
Basic plan - $39.99 (adult) and $10.99 (child)
Deluxe plan - $71.99 (adult) and $20.99 (child)

I'm thinking the $29.99 for the QS plan is a bit steep.

I also find it completely unfair that the QS and DX plans get a refillable mug, but the basic plan does not. What was the thinking there?

The price seems a little steep for cs... are these refillable mugs only usable at your resort? If they came out with refillable mugs that were good throughout the parks... this would be a good deal for some people (we rarely drink any kind of soda... so probably wouldn't do us any good.)

$30 per day is way, way too expensive for the CS plan for us.

Figure $1 per day for the mug on our 14-day trips.
Figure $6 per day for the two snacks.
And figure max of $20 per day for the two CS meals.

At best, if we tried to "maximize" the plan by over-eating, we'd break even or save a buck or two.

We'll be sticking with cash, and saving real money by sharing meals about half the time.

I'm also trying to figure the value in the CS plan. Maybe Disney is just adding it in the hopes that people will blindly buy into it?
We can do 2 CS and 2 $3 snacks per person for $22. So where's the rest of the money filling in from? A person can only collect so many yucky brownies. ;) A refillable mug is $12 and you get that whether it is 1 day or 15days so I can't see the value-added part from that. And while it may be unpopular, many people just re-use their mugs (or as DH saw, just used a fast food cup! LOL) and WDW doesn't care at all. So those people won't find any added benefit from the mugs being included.

Unless they are implementing a refillable mug that you can use in the parks as well. That would be a huge on-site benefit and would make the meal plans much more attractive.

IMHO, lots of people will buy the plan - not because it is a fantastic deal, but becasue it helps them budget.

Many buy prepaid meal plans for the convenience and security, even if it isn't the very best value.

ok I can't find anything on the US site that speaks to the 09 dining plan but from what people have said the $29.99 price is coming from reports off the UK site.

I ran the exchange calc from what the UK pays now for the base dining plan vs the US price and they are paying almost $2 more per day per person for the dining plan. So possibly the dining plan for US would be $27.99 per day for the CS?

Still not a value but more along the lines of possibly breaking even if you got expensive CS meals.

I agree completely. -- Suzanne

If you always get a large drink and dessert with your CS meal, the price comparisons I just did averages out where the refillable mug and snacks essentially end up being free. Individual eating habits will determine whether or not the new QS Meal Plan is worthwhile.

For Example:

Pecos Bill's
Double Cheeseburger w/Fries $7.59
Large Drink $2.39
Peanut Butter Brownie Mousse $3.59
Subtotal: $13.57 + tax

Flametree BBQ
1/2 Slab of St. Louis Ribs $8.99
Large Drink $2.39
Chocolate Cake $3.59
Subtotal: $14.97 + tax

(Of course, this was using the most expensive items on the menu.)

We'll stick with cash, too. $30 seems a bit much. IF we eat 2 CS meals a day (we hardly ever do), we never get the dessert or the large drink. And we don't usually get 2 snacks a day.

But I'm sure lots of folks will be interested in it simply because it'll be the cheapest way to get pre-paid food - and most guests don't check the actual cost.

I just got off of the phone with MS and asked about when the dining plan info would come out. She said later this month. So we'll see what we as DVC members get.

This is a good summary. I don't know if many of us realize how much CS meals have gone up in price over the last 18 months. I noticed back in April when we paid $37 for 2 adults and a child at Restaurantasaurus at the Animal Kingdom for burgers fries, drinks, and desserts. Good thing they took the DDE.

If you get the plan, making it worth it will depend on what you purchase and how much you use your mugs at the resort.

I also noticed that some of the World Showcase Counter locations are not participating; i.e. Tangering Cafe and the San Angel Cantina.

Here is some additional info at this link.

Editing to add -I'd like to know where that pizza in the picture came from. It looks pretty good to me!

Like I said in my pp, you can do the math by getting quotes from the WDW website. I did not use the UK website.

A 1 night package for 1 adult at the GF (it's the 1st resort that pops up) with no dining comes up to $736.22 for the 1st week of Feb. When you add each dining plan the prices increase as follows - $766.21 for QS (a difference of $29.99), $776.21 for DDP (a difference of $39.99), and $808.21 for DxDP (a difference of $71.99). You can do the same to figure out the pricing for the child prices.

I hope this can clear up some things for you.:goodvibes

Looks accurrate. So, it appears the basic and deluxe plans are going up $2.00 next year. I wonder if there will be any adjustments to the plans; i.e. adding the app or tip back to the plan, etc. I kind of doubt it.

I think I'd skipthe plans in any form again. We loved the freedom we just had and I am still failing to see any value other than the prepaid thing. Again I am sure, YMMV based on ages of children, eating habits, etc. I am going to stick withthe DDE and complete freedom of choice since nothing looks like a great deal. I'm still stuck onthe idea that I'd want it to be all inclusive, not a person who enjoys the extra on top for tips, if I am going to have to pay any additional then why bother pre paying.:confused3
